Monday Morning Randomness: Real Talk: Who's Pouring into Your Spirit Today, Part 3

4 posts in one day, LadyLee, you whine aloud???

Shut it up!! Hold your mule, we allllmost done!!! This is a special week for Dr. LadyLee!

Just listen...

I was going to title all this "LadyLee's Love Letters to My Baby Blog Sistas, Serenity and the LBeezy"...

LOL!!

Sorry, I've been running with those chickens a long long time. We have MANY hours of INTENSE convo. It's nice to see them set goals and be successful.

But these posts are love letters for Southern Black Gal, Dreamy, and some of them ollllld hens who old like me: That Opinionated Diva, Tayari, Atlien Nikki, Microphone Queen Sharon, Ms. Behaving, Chele and ya'll fellas too. Shoot, it goes out to everybody who dwells in the House of LadyLee, and who has been hanging hard for a minute. I can't name all ya'll, especially ya'll lurkers (The good nurse, Sherri, Gang leader Tiffy D, all yall) and for those who blow up my email!

Shoot, this is a love letter to my own doggone self.

I'm sure you've come across a few things that make you, uh, ponder...

So, let's keep it moving, shall we?

The ABSOLUTE wackest thing I saw last week. Well, on Sunday. But it is the wackest thing I saw. Sorry, this has to do with ol' Serenity again. A commenter left on her blog:

"All of your posts pretty much sound like you're showing off rather than truly being appreciative. It's like you find every single opportunity to show off something new you got, shoes, car, house.... whatever it may be, Please! not everyone is fortunate enought like you, are you sure it's found money????"

*crickets*
*steam blowing out of LadyLee's ears*

I was HOT behind that. HAWT!!! I was sitting on my bed staring at the laptop hollering about that one.

I think Serenity was cool after awhile, but I was wailing alll day. Goodness.

Serenity left an, appropriate response.

"I'm sorry you feel that way, however I do not have to justify a damn thing to you and if you are tired of my "showing off," you are free to not visit MY blog again. No, everyone is not fortunate, but you will continue to be unfortunate if you operate in jealousy."

Well, alrighty then. Very appropriate and to the point.

Alright ya'll real talk.

YOUR blog belongs to YOU. It's your blog. Speak your mind, write what you enjoy writing. I got lost on the two words "All posts" from the commenter. Goodness. Serenity has 1000 posts, over a 1000. I know in the last 10 somewhere, I've seen some discouragement, heartache, tears, etc... amongst her taking opportunity to celebrating her own successes and outlining the processes for her readers benefits.

I followed up her comment with a 1000 word kick to the grill (a nice one at that... remember, it ain't MY blog). I rep my folks who trying to do something good with their life, and are kind enough to share with others what's going on and how they are doing it.

Blogger CreoleinDC rolled up on a motorcyle with a boiling pot of HOT grits and dumped them on the commenter's head in a post of her own... OH MY!!!

Clutch the pearls! Tell em how you REALLY feel, girl!!

Man, ya'll better get in the HABIT of celebrating other's successes.

Life is like a grocery store line. I applaud you when the cashier finishes checking out your groceries. What I look like holding YOU back from getting your groceries. No babes, get yours! Because then it's my turn!!

Why we gotta be crabs in a barrel??? UGH.

You better check yourself. Your hatin' ways might be the reason you stuck in the column of "Low, po' and ain't got no mo'!"

Really though.

Again, please write your blogs for yourself. If someone else gets something out of it, that's the extra benefit. If not, well, they can keep it moving.

Go talk to some peeps who wrote their blogs for others. Wonderful bloggers whose blogs was once a joy for them, then it morphed into something they dredded- a chore, a drain, a bother, something they completely hated. I've talked to a few. And my heart goes out to them.

I love the LadyLee blog. We keep it smurfy over here. (Well, not today, lol). No, I don't get a gazillion comments. (That would drive me NUTS!!) I don't measure my success by that. (Are you kidding me???). I look at the amount of joy it brings to ME. That's what makes my blog successful... in my own opinion.

Real IMPORTANT events coming up this week. So with that said, I say this: My blog anniversary is this Wednesday, August 15th.

My 3rd Bloggaversary. WOW.

And this week is dedicated to those who "Pour into my spirit".

Question: Who's pouring into your spirit today?

I mean, when you are down, on your last leg, don't know WHAT to do, who is coming along with a figurative pitcher of hope, and FILLING you up and sending you on your way?

This week is dedicated to bloggers and others who take time to FILL ME UP and send me on my way to a better day.

Also, Friday is the 10th anniversary of me receiveing my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, with concentration in Organic Synthesis and D.rug Design.

10 years. 1998.

I have a funny post about that.

Ya'll wanna know how CRAZY I am? I will give you a taste right here.

At the beginning of your Dissertation, you have an acknowledgment section. It is suppose to be all serious, thanking professors and family for helping you along, etc. I mean, this is a big serious BOOK that you have written and had published. A book of your original work, a book that contains all the original research that makes you an expert in your field, worthy of the title "Dr."

I wrote...

at the end of the Acknowledgment section...

In bold italics...

"In the words of my favorite rapper, Master P... I want to say...

Make em say UGGGGGGGGH!! Naw, naw, naw, naw, NAAAAAAAW!

I have finished this journey called my Ph.D."

Yeah. No lying. I had the audacity to do that. I know my advisor had to be red in the face behind that. But what could he do? I was FINISHED. Holla, Playa.

*LadyLee snatches Doctorate degree and does the cabbage patch all the way out the door*

LOL.

Okay, ya'll got some work to do. Give me some REAL TALK in the comment section or email me. You got something foolish to say to me, send me an email so we can spar back and forth and have real talk privately, because yo ish getting deleted out of the comment section if you hating.

(This here MY blog, I can DO that.)

1. Who's pouring into your spirit today? Is it good or bad?
2. What do you believe about yourself today?

Tell me something. By doing so, you're pouring into my spirit.

And I am more than grateful for that. It blesses my socks off. I can never get enough of REAL talk about yourself from YOU.

Enlighten an Oldgirl. Please. I'm doing this for a reason. I've made a couple of announcements over on other blogs, but not here yet. But I will this week. Chele, I want to order up a bunch of copies of your Confessions of a Beautiful Woman. Let me know what I need to do...

More details later.

Start your week off right by saying something good about YOU.

Get in the habit of celebrating YOURSELF. You are highly accomplished in your own right.

If you don't celebrate yourself, who will??

Well, I will... look out from a shout out from me... a note on how each of ya'll have blessed me, how ya'll have poured into my spirit...

That's the way I'm celebrating my 3rd Bloggaversary the rest of the week...

Monday Morning Randomness: REAL TALK :Who's Pouring into your Spirit Today? PART II

(click here for Part 1: Monday Morning Randomness: Who's Pouring in Your Spirit Today?)

Continued from Part 1

I'm still trying to get you to ponder that question:

Who's pouring into your spirit today?

Are you even concerned about who is pouring into your spirit?

Don't answer that just yet. Just ponder.

Blog and Post of the Week. There were a lot of them, but it comes from a blog on which I lurk constantly: Lovebabz: A Life in Transition.

The specific post title- Believe Them When They Tell You Who They Are.

Quote: "I have decided to accept folks as they come into my life. But at the same time I also have to be more discerning and truthful in who I choose to spend my precious time with. What I hear from a Man has to also be in tuned to what I see in the Man. He can't say on thing and do another. Well he could, but then I have to be truthful and honest and courageous enough to say this is not what I want and keep it moving. To do anything else is saying I do not believe my soul mate is out there, so therefore I am going to settle for what's in my face. So therein lies the rub, knowing in my heart and soul that someone is not right for ME. No matter how much I like them, they are saying with their actions I AM NOT THE ONE! So why am I trying to make myself more available to someone who has already said in action and deeds his feelings? Because I am not being truthful, or honest with what I know. I want what I know not to be truth and if I just hang in and keep telling myself that what I feel, and see and hear is not what I see, feel and hear then happiness will surely be mine. Somehow I will get what I want. Which is so not true."

If that didn't blow your mind in 10 different directions, then you are just... not alive or something. I didn't even know what to pull out of that post. I just yanked a whole paragraph. It's too much GOOD stuff in there. Too much REAL TALK.

Lovebabz, who is 45, broke down in one simple post, many of our problems with failed relationships. I am 38 years old. I WISH someone would've gotten in my face and broken all that she said in that post down to me. I mean, cut my head open, shove it in and make me memorize it. She responded in her comment section to me:

Ahh I didn't know this shit when I was 24or 25. I know it at 45!

And I know it at age 38. Shoot.

Hear me now, believe me later. Young girls, and Oldgirls, go read that. The whole thing. Print it out and place it on your bathroom mirror. Ponder it as you brush yor teeth and put on your makeup.

I promise you, right here now, if you give ear to that post, I mean REALLY listen to what she is saying, then filter your choices through that? You will save yourself a whole lot of trouble when it comes to dealing with men who are NOT worthy of you.

Hear me now, believe me later.

Lovebabz, you rocked the house all last week with hard core REAL TALK. I swear, some of what you shared last week had me teary-eyed. Thanks for that. This Oldgirl needed that.

Best Thing I wrote last week: Getting back to that INTENSE email thread session me and Serenity had on Friday evening. (LBeezy, where were YOU at? This was some hot-headed screeching fireside chat we got over into! Call ya girl!)

Anyway, best thing I wrote, in an email to her, after I opened a Book of Cuss on her (lol):

"I am more important than the Queen of England and all her predecessors, and ANY man will be increased by my presence in his life. I don't have to put up with anything that is a discomfort to me. That's just how important I am. God love me so doggone much that I have INFINITE numbers of chances. INFINITE."

And I say that with the HEAVY foot stomp. I stake my Ph.D. on that one. Hell, let me just say it: I stake my life on that one.

Tell me something... What do you believe about YOURSELF today?

No, no NO! I ain't talking about what OTHERS say about you, and you ingesting that and accepting that as what YOU are SUPPOSE to believe about yourself. N'awl Man!!

But take stock right now, and answer the question on the REAL...

What do YOU believe about YOURSELF today?

Go head on, leave it in the comments, because I want to hear what you have to say?

Enlighten LadyLee today. You fellas, you too, Terry and 2nd 68, if you feel like it. Heck, folk too shy to leave a comment and toot their own horn, hit me up with a email. I'll give you my email address.

oldgirl_1@earthlink.net

Uh, that's oldgirl_1 above. Don't forget the underscore.

I double dog Dino Scooby Doo dare you to let me know what you believe about yourself TODAY. I ain't gonna judge you, I will never say, that ain't right. Shoot, I APPLAUD you in advance for believing in yourself.

Because I DOUBT anyone can come up with something as pompous and arrogant as what I wrote above.

LOL!

I think that shut down our conversation, didn't Serenity? It was a great conversation, chick. I learned more and got more out of it for myself than you did I bet.

You see, I'm like this: I ask A BUNCH of question. I haven't formed an opinion or anything, don't like judging people and if you just stupid or crazy on purpose, we ain't even having conversations in the first place.

I'm more important than the Queen of England and you're not even allowed in my courts to even have the priviledge of having a conversation with me, baby. Take and sell your bullshit elsewhere.

('Scuse my language).

Sorry. Someone will escort you out of Dr. LadyLee's presence.

*LadyLee points at the door with her platinum diamond encrusted scepter.*

Thank goodness I wasn't sitting next to my pal Serenity, or I would have tackled and pummeled her. I think she knew that, and was privately relieved that she was sitting in her own cubicle faaaaaaaar, far away up in North Carolina.

The drive is only 3 hours away though. Watch your back, Serenity. Watch OUT.

LOL!

It was nice to hear from her this morning... "LadyLee, I wrote that on a notecard, and placed it on a bathroom mirror this morning."

You want to use what I said above, then use it. You can replace "The Queen of England" with Beyonce, whoever you deem so incredibly important in this world. (Thoughts of Southern Black Gal, you can replace it with Lil' Wayne. LOL!!)

Say THAT to yourself while you brushing your teeth in the morning.

For the rest of year.

And watch how you react with some sucka you dealing with act a jack. Watch what rise up out of the seat of your soul.

"Whoa, hold up Shorty. Pump the brakes, hold up. Let me tell you something, I'm IMPORTANT, BLAH, BLAH, BLAAAAAAH!!!!

Have a weak man or a man not worthy of you tip-toeing out the door fast. Real FAST.

Sidenote: I heard a neighbor of mine completely SNAP on a dude using some Bible scripture. I mean SNAP... Mutha***** No weapon against me will prosper, blah, blah, blah... I mean she bust this joker so hard that he was just SPEECHLESS. I don't know what he did to her, as they were behind their apartment door, and I had no knowlege of stuff. But I remember standing at my front door in the hall for 10 minutes, with my key in my hand, shaking in my shoes. That chick read her bible and knew her worth, but she also happen to have a shovel handy to dig up a Book of Cuss. DANG!

I would see dude, and just shake my head. He had that scared look in his eye. I wanted to say, you need to be scared, bruh. You really do.

Anyway, good for you, S. Glad that you wrote the Queen of England quote up on your mirror.

Now go, and continue to grow.

Can I ask you another question, because I am full of something.

What do you say to yourself to build yourself up? What rises up out of you when adversity comes your way?

Hmmm.... answer that question.

I'm looking for things to put up on my bathroom mirror, things to ponder while I brush my teeth in the mornings and before I go to bed...

...to be continued.

Monday Morning "Food for Thought": REAL TALK: Who's Pouring into Your Spirit? PART 1

Warning: I have a bunch of posts this week. Maybe 4 today ALONE. This is a very special week for me. BIG anniversary events this week. BIG, lol. So bare with me.

We taking "Smurfy" to the "Real Talk" level at the House of LadyLee for most of this week.

So hang with me, I'm going somewhere with this. Let's GO...

Good Marvelous Monday Merry Merning, Boys and Girls!

How are you feeling this Mernting?

Alright, I'll cut that out. Monday isn't my favorite day of the week.

But I'ma see how long I can keep up this Monday Morning "Food for Thought". And there is a little randomness here, just off the top of my head. No planning, no fuss... Just letting you know what's going on with me.

I have a running Theme this week because two HUGE anniversaries occur this week. This is my way of celebrating my milestones with YOU, my beloved reader.

The thing on my mind this morning, and a question I have for you as you read alllll the posts I have for you this week:

"Who's pouring into your spirit today?"

I won't go into that now. It is the theme for the week, and I will explain later in the post.

I just want you to sit back and ponder that question. Don't answer it yet, but just let it marinate.

Okay, here we go with the Randomness:

My weekend. I had an uneventful weekend. I went to church on Friday evening. (I don't like going on Sundays).

Well, me and my baby blog sista Serenity30 had some pretty INTENSE emails earlier that day(3 hours worth... goodness gracious alive) where I had to straigthen her out on a couple of matters (I don't think she mind me saying that, cuz she know I ain't going all into it)

Friday night-I then went to church and the entire 1.5 hour sermon (I have NO idea why we were there THAT long, but when it was time to go nobody really moved) was on the VERY things me and Serenity talked about and then some. It was some information overload, that's for sure.

I thought it was just me thinking about the headache I had during our conversation earlier, because it had burned a hole in my brain. I know she had to have a raised an eyebrow when I ended a couple of my emails with "DANG. I got a headache now. I need an aspirn." Then I opened my Book of Cuss on her. (I apologized, then went back and buried the book, then had another aspirin).

The whole sermon was about what we talked about.

Even down to the Queen of England. (You'll understand later in these posts. Just hold on to that thought).

*LadyLee peering curiously at the preacher and at serious negroes sitting in the pews on either side of her*

"You need to know what verse we on?" the kind sister next to me asked.

I shook my head.

Shoot man, I was just trying to figure out what was going on!

Hmm...

Took me about an hour to get home that night (a 12 minute drive, it should have been). ATL traffic is HORRIBLE, but they've been paving the highways at night on the weekends, and I didn't know that, so I sat on the highway, creeping along here and there, for about 45 minutes.

Shoot, even all my exits were closed off. I had to get on another highway to get home. UGGH!!!

Saturday - I went sticker shopping (for my birthday cards I like to send). I also perused some furniture. I have no bedroom furniture. I have the money to buy it outright, but there has been nothing that makes me point and go "GLORY! THAT'S my furniture!!!!" So until then, I will just peruse. I actually saw something I like, and if I can find something similar in cherry wood, I will buy it.

I also stopped by the Thrift store to drop off a garbage bag of clothes. I LOVE THE THRIFT STORE. The one I go to, well, it is as full as a club on Friday night, and everyone is happy and all eager. The last time I was in there, they were playing Christmas music (in the middle of July *crickets*). This time they had the Elvis music CRUNK. Man!!!!

I don't usually peruse thrift stores because I HATE sorting through stuff. But I bought a few cookie tins, a pair of NICE pants (2 bucks), and a NICE shirt (3 bucks).

Yeah!! Just call me your friendly neighborhood bargain-hunting Oldgirl!!!

Sunday- I woke up at 5:00 a.m., for whatever reason. I immediately began crocheting because I have a blanket due on August 30th, and although I am on schedule, I am a bit nervous about getting it all the way DONE. So I worked on that, did some routine house cleaning, and chilled out all day.

My sister Kentucky came downstairs early that morning. She was dressed, her purse dangling off her shoulder. She was off to get some essentials for the house and some hot wings. I whined about her always buying WEAK hot wings. She returned a couple of hours later with some X-tra hot wings.

Those wings were so HOT that my scalp was sweating.

Now THAT'S how a hot wing should be. (Needless to say, my stomach is on FIRE right now!)

Song of the week: My current song is "Sending My Love" by Zhane. It is the first song in the Playlist to the right, and the song playing now. I LOVE THAT SONG. I was lurking around as on Cool Glass of Dejanade's blog (as usual), and her Playlist stream is through the website as my own. And I saw that song and played it.

My goodness, that is a good song. Even the Younguns like Southern Black Gal who ride Lill' Wayne's jock ALL DAY, should LOVE that song. LOL!!

I've been playing it all weekend.... over and over and over REAL LOUD. I know my baby sis Kentucky was half a second from coming downstairs, snatching up my laptop and SMASHING it to the ground, then go back up to her bedroom upstairs and have the peace she so desperately longed for. But she didn't do all that. (Thank goodness!)

So, back to my question... keep pondering it.

Who's pouring in your spirit today?

to be continued...

Friday Ramblings

Let the rambling begin!!

Pay Day! I am happy because it is PAYDAY!!

My smile is bright and my teeth gleam in the morning sun! It is PAYDAY!!

You know what that means. BALL 'TIL I FAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!

BLING-BLING, Baby!!!

Yeah right. I wish I WOULD have the nerve to go shop 'til I drop. I could see myself out shopping, having a GOOD time.

The "Gang leader" of my Triple F Possee (the financial freedom fighters, my finance group), Tiffy D would roll up on me, her light green eyes flashing bright red. They glow brightly.

And she'd slowly say... "Put that dayum stuff back, Trick!!!!!"

*Lee putting video games, CDs, sneakers and snow crabs back on the shelf... quickly*

No. No shopping for me. I will pay the mortgage, and a few bills. Then I will go do a little grocery shopping this weekend. That is IT.

*Tiffy D's eyes return to their nice green color*

Whew. Thank goodness. I don't want to deal with that girl's death stare! LOL!!

Dinter!! I had dinner with one of my faaaaaaaaaaaavorite LadyLee blog readers, Sherri, aka, Ms.Blackliterature.com, the true authority on the genre of black literature. She was in town on business, and wanted to get together. I was DOWN for that, man.

That chick has turned me on to some really good reading! Really though. And she has done me the HONOR of critiquing some of my manuscript and other writings. (She is HARD on an Oldgirl. Makes me think and makes me do better! I LOVE IT!) She's one of the best members of the Original Oldgirl Elite Critique Team.

(I'ma get some t-shirts made up for ya'll who are team members. I really am. And ya'll BETTER wear them.)

She called earlier in the day, and I was suppose to meet her at her hotel. But later, she said she'd come pick me up. The tail end of our convo...

"Alright, I'll see you in about 15 minutes, Lee."

"That'll work."

*LadyLee hangs up phone*

"Kentuuuuuuucccccccky!!!!" I holler REAL loud. "Come help me clean up real quick!!!"

We did an AMAZING amount of cleaning in 15 minutes. LOL!! I was just about to pull out the vacuum cleaner, but she was standing at my door and ringing that doorbell!

We had dinner at the Watershed. I've been there SO many times. I blogged about it the first time I went, with one of Miss Celie's homegirls, Nurse Cook (who I affectionately call "The Good Nurse"-yall KNOW I can't call peeps by their birth/gub'ment name). WOW. It's my favorite place to take someone when the come to town.

I had a green salad and some nice fried oysters, with the red bell pepper ketchup that I so dearly love. She had the fried catfish and mac-n-cheese.

I told her what The Good Nurse told me the first time I'd gone there. She told me and my brother Milk and Cookies...

"The macaroni and cheese is made by God."

I told Sherri this. We were having some nice convo and she took a bite of that... and ALL convo stopped.

I smiled. "I told you that that macaroni and cheese was made by God!"

She had that same look on her face that I had when I first tried it. Like she had seen the heavens open up and the angels sing.

Yes. That macaroni and cheese is THAT good.

She recently had a baby girl back in June, and I even got a chance to see and feed the baby.

All together now, Blog Fam...

"Awwwwwwwwwww."

Shoot. It almost makes me want to have one.

(Yeah right).

We had a GREAT time. I LOVE GOOD CONVERSATION! And we had a good one.

I'm glad that I got a chance to hang out with you Ms.Blackliterature.com! I had a GREAT time, and I hope we hook up again!

My Friday Video of the day: "Soul Sisters" by Finesse and Synquis.

(I know 2nd 68 remembers that one!)

My best friend LadyTee HATED them. "Aww Lee, those broads wanna be Salt-N-Peppa. That'll never happen. I can't stand them! Blah, blah, BLAAAAH!!"

We fought endlessly over them. She still talks crap whenever I mention them. LOL.

I must admit, I've always like Salt-N-Peppa better. (I'll never let LadyTee know that!)

This song is 20 years old, and contains 2 of my favorite rap verses:

"I know you're impressed by this Lady Godiva because your mouth is wide open and it's dripping saliva"

"You grab the mike and start screeching for no apparent reason. You should do what you do best, girl, and that's skeezin!"

Remember when calling a woman a "Skeezer" was the worst thing you could call her?

You know what we're regularly called in songs these days. Hmmmm.

Who would've thought those were the Good 'Ol Days???

Okay, I've finished with my rambling.

Do me a BIG ol' favor:

Have a nice weekend... on purpose.
