Super Quotes of the Week- Deluxe Edition

Let's start the week off right with a quotes deluxe post.

So...

I was in the other building one day, paying a visit to my supervisor. I think I may have needed to turn something in to him. It is rare for me to just trek one building over for ANYTHING. (And he is great about coming over to the labs. Otherwise, he would rarely see me.)

Anyway, I come out of his office and there is a large cubicle. And Lady K sits in there. That has been her cubicle space for a couple of years, but I noticed through the opaque panel surrounding her space a flyer of some sort taped to the panel. I couldn't read what it said. What I did notice was that the font was large, like, a size 72 font.

You know me... I'm nosey. I wanted to see what it said.

Now I like Lady K. Why? Because you don't hear her name caught up in a bunch of mess. She does what she gotta do and gets the heck out of dodge. Plus she is always kind to me. I like kind people. Plus our parking spots are next to each other out in the parking lot. She has a nice car with nice rims. And oftentimes I've rolled up next to her car and admired her car rims and tires.

Her rims are FIRE. And they look to be the same size as Lucy Jr.'s (my good car - my Lexus) rims.

I have a Menace II Society moment... I momentarily want to jack her wheels and put them on MY car.

But only in my head. I would never do that. And it would be crass to jack her wheels... and park next to her. I think she would notice.

Not cool.

Anyway, I stepped around the partition to see what she has posted on the wall.

And I tell you... she had every quote known to man up.

"Let me take pictures of these," I said, after much laughter.

She agreed.

Alas... Super quotes deluxe ensued.

I like that one. It might as well say, "Do NOT come up in here with your BS!!!"

Yes indeed.

This one is especially necessary when one DOES decide to run up on her with some craziness:

That's a good one above, as it speaks to the problem not being you, but the whole idea of people projecting their negative energy on people. Not cool.

This one is special in that it reminds me NOT to have negative energy. Nope.

And look at this one:

That's like, a whole quote story or something like that.

I know one thing: I will always approach her with joy and positivity. NO negative energy from me, homie. Nope.

I will always have a smile. And there will be NO thoughts of me, no imaginations at all, of me snatching her nicely rimmed tires off of her car.

Also... how much better will a day be if every time we look up from our work, we have some positive words to focus on?

And lastly, how much negativity do those quotes stave off? I bet much. It did much for my energy just standing there and reading all those quotes. MUCH.

I think Lady K may be on to something. Yes she is.

Quote of the Week, Part II

I do agree with that one.  Yes indeed.

For the Essential Woman...

My play mama Adrienne loves to sew. And there's nothing like spinning something you love into something profitable. Hence, her business.

(Here I go... jacking pictures again. And jacking good quotes)

Now that's some good food for thought!

People Isshas (Vice-Versa)

These quotes hit close to home for me.

Why? Because I'm not really a people person. People look at me crazy when I say that.

I get a lot of "LadyLee, you're one of the nicest, kindest, most generous people I know!"

Yes I am. I do claim that... In the name of Jesus.

But that does not make me a "people person". Not in the least.

I do things for people I don't even like. Just because I may see something that they may like. And I usually roll with it. It is proof I don't have hatred in my heart. Well, proof to me.

I have been called an excellent judge of character. And I don't think it is that at all. I just have an interesting personality that doesn't mesh well with certain personalities. And I don't plan on changing. And I wouldn't want you to change.

I will meet you where you are. And I may walk off and leave you there.

I think of things on a time continuum these days.

I may be able to put up with you for awhile. But not forever. You may drain me for a few months. But you won't drain me for years. And vice-versa.

And you know me... I don't care to be a bother, and I don't want to exasperate people. I don't want to drain folks.

And some of the nicest people I know have a most interesting set of skills which include having to get along with everybody, no matter how they are treated. No matter how much their feelings are hurt, they deal with it.

I'm just not that person. And I don't apologize for it.

Plus it has made room for an onslaught of people who are a blessing to my life. And vice-versa.

I have worried about it for years. And as I get older, I worry about much less. I rarely even think about it.

Interesting what a couple of quotes make me think about...

Watching for Gold

I came across this quote on Facebook...

We all have experienced naysayers in our lives. They stick out like a sore thumb. There's nothing worse than telling your dreams and visions to someone and they shoot it down. And when it's repetitive, well, that signifies a deeper internal problem. Not with you, because you are speaking your dream. You verbalizing your vision. The internal problem isn't with you, but with that person. Hmm.

And that has NOTHING to do with you.

So ditch'em!

(I know, I know.  I'm just harsh like that).

We all have or have had cheerleaders in our lives... those people that really don't get what and why we are doing something, but they cheer us on nevertheless...

Those are the people that matter. And add to that their ability to ask the probing questions and give wise counsel... enough so to get you on your way to your dream?

Man... those people are gold. They are precious gems. And as the quote says, we have to "watch" for those people. They tend to be drowned out by the negative folks in our lives. And that is sad.

I am always watching for gold. Always.

And we all need more of this gold in our lives.

DECIDE...

I like this quote...

My day goes so much better when I start the day off right. When I make some declarations over my day, everything goes smoother. When I decide the type of day I want to see, then life flows in that direction. I am more alert of the good of the day, and the bad doesn't have so much power.

That takes much faith. Or not much at all. But it does take faith.  Just a little will do.

So that quote speaks volumes to me. Definitely worth posting.

Quote of the Day

I love good quotes. Here is one from one of Cowgirl Cre's relatives....

"Negative people need drama like they need oxygen. Stay positive and take their breath away."

You got that right.

Some folks you just have to figuratively suffocate.

And not feel bad about it.

Quote of the Day: Life's Chapters

My cubicle mate Cowgirl Cre called my name and asked me to turn around and look at something on her computer on her facebook page. It was a quote, one that left her particularly fascinated:

Do not, I repeat, do not allow anyone to sit high and look low to judge you. Everyone has a chapter in their life they don't read out loud.

Well, dang!!

I heard that.

And I think that anyway. People who are overly judgmental and critical of folks and their lives are most likely hiding a few things.

They have quite a few skeletons crammed type in their proverbial closets. There are a few chapters in their lives that they keep hidden from view.  And they make themselves feel better about their own secret issues by judging the lives of others.

I see that all the time.

And it is reminiscent of one of my favorite scriptures:

Romans 2: 2 (Message version). Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanors. Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one.

Yes it is.  A well known way indeed.

It takes one to know one. Um-hmmm...

One word in that quote sticks out to me: Everyone.

EVERYONE.

Everyone has something. We all have lived and have done some interesting things that we were just glad we got through it.  Lord knows I myself have done some questionable things. Highly questionable.

So it's hard for me to sit here and look at folks and judge them. Most of my thoughts in that arena run along the lines of "I've done something similar to that before."  And I spend quite a bit of time thinking about it. And how I can be of help in some way.

Now with that said, I think we all judge in someway, even if we don't come out and say it. But you know what we're talking about here. Everyone knows those people who are waaaay over the top. They ALWAYS got something to say about someone else is doing.

They are experts on everyone else's business except their own business, which by the way, they hold close to their chest. They are quite secretive about their own business.

We all know people like that. I know I do.

But the antidote for that behavior is to remember our own lives, and to go back and read a few of those chapters in our books.

We don't have to read them aloud... just read them in our own minds to ourselves.

And maybe we will have some compassion for others who are going through things... since we ourselves have gone through things our ownselves.

Quote of the Day: Of Self Worth and Opinions

I heard a couple of interesting quotes on Sirius XM this morning. I don't have the person's name, but I think he's a financial and business guru. But I thought they were good quotes to write down...

Not one ounce of my self worth depends on your opinion of me.

Now that's a good one.

You know, when I make decisions, or I am talking to people about decisions they want to make - especially positive ones or ones that move towards our purposes- it never fails that one big thing comes up: worrying what others will say or think about it.  There's that old fear of rejection, too.

And I always wonder... if what others have to say was out of the way, would we do more with our lives?

Just a question.

And all of this is complicated by people are experts on the lives of others... but are not fully aware of their own lives.

We are terribly judgmental, yet afraid to be judged.

You know it's true.

So I thought that was a good post. Worth remembering...

Here's to a healthy since of self-worth.

Quotable Quotes

Here are some interesting quotes I've read on Facebook this week.

Successful people make progress. Unsuccessful people make excuses.

The struggling you do today will develop the strength you need for tomorrow.- James Baldwin.

And my favorite one this week:

When you die, folks are going to put you in a box. Don't let them put you in a box while you're living.

Live, love, and laugh outside the box.

You got that right.

Quotable Quotes: Patience and Courage

I have another good quote. Of course, I don't know where it's from. But I found it to be something I've been thinking about for the past couple of months:

The 2 hardest things in life to deal with are:

- The patience to wait for what we want.
- The courage to deal with all we encounter along the way.

At first glance, that doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal, patiently waiting for what you want, and dealing with what goes on during the time it takes to get it.

But this quote addresses a couple of my biggest problems: patience and courage.

I think I am getting better, though, especially in my 40s. At least I am willing to admit to myself when certain hard situations scare me and render my courage a bit shaky. I wasn't so willing to admit this in my younger years. But as I get older I have learned to understand that there will be obstacles along the way in life. And for myself, those can be external or even internal in nature. I am learning that I must identify the problem and battle through it if I am going to grow.

And I have also learned that it's not the desired destination that's always important, it's the 1000 things I learn along the way that are just as important and equip me to handle that final destination.

So I am understanding patience and courage are important...

But what scares me is the microwave times we live in... where everything is becoming more and more instantaneous. And this instantaneous nature isn't applicable to all areas of life. Personal growth, for example, is NOT an instantaneous event. It takes patience. And Lord knows, it takes courage.

So I think that's a good quote. It reminds me to be always mindful of my weaker areas of patience and courage.

I hope it's helpful to you, too.
