Ten Tuesday Thoughts

1.  Man oh man.... this work-from-home telework business is for the BIRDS.

2. Some workdays are good... and some are just bad.  Blessed me the day.

3. I have noticed that the cats eat their food. I know they have been eating, but actually seeing them eat is amazing!

4. Sista Callie and Big Mitch are living their best lives. I know that much for sure.

5. I haven't been journalling, and if there is any time that I should be, this is it.

6. Mayor Keisha has locked down the city of Atlanta. Thank goodness, because the governor of Georgia. No sir. No no no sir.

7. This is a good thing because the Governor of Georgia gave a conference about what was going on and WOW. It left me without comfort and hope.

8. We really need President Obama right now, because our beloved present President leaves me O_o.  I am wondering when he will take this seriously. President Obama handled all crises well enough. I need some hope and comfort.

9. It is terribly difficult being at home when it comes to food consumption. I am eating too much random stuff.  I need to start writing down what I am eating so I won't wander over into mindless territory. With that said, I realize that that's a "high class" problem.

10. I am not sure where things go from here. But I am making sure to pay attention to Governor Cuoma's, (the governor of New York) press conferences. Now THAT is a real leader. He needs to be installed as the de facto president of the USA, but because he is not playing games. He is taking everything serious.

And I'm not mad about that!

This has been the Ladylee-locked in the house version of thoughts on a Tuesday.

Ya'll be safe out there!

Wash your hands! Practice your social distance thing!

ON PURPOSE!!

Ten, no, THIRTEEN Thoughts... On a Thursday.

Whelp! I should be posting 50 times per day, since I am stuck off in the house. LOL. At least I can do a Ten Thursday Thoughts.

1. ALL we are talking about is that daggone coronavirus. I wish we would call it what it is, though: SARS-Covid-19.

2. The coronaviruses are a family of viruses, ranging from the common cold to the flu to the MERS and the H1N1, and so on and so on. I think that they just call the current virus by the common name because it is a whole word.

3. This whole thing continues to boggle my mind. Completely boggle it. Feels like we were just screaming Happy New Year!! Now this. Who woulda' known?

4. My Pastor said at the beginning of the year, around New Years, or maybe even at the Watch night service, that this would be a year of clarity. Boy oh boy, who woulda thought it would all go in this direction?

5. So there is a rule now that you cannot congregate in large crowds. This means no movie theaters, and no restaurant shopping, and no church. This seems to be the new way of life for the moment, and although I ain't the most social chick on the planet, I KNOW this is jacking up some of you "When we party, we party hearty" people. Hate it for ya'll.

6. With that said, I attend a big church, and it was odd to turn on Bible study and see my pastor just preaching to an empty church. He says he is going to obey the new rules put in place. My sister lives in the city (South Fulton), and it is the first spot around here to have a curfew put in place (9 pm- 7 pm).

7. But it was a good message, a message on fear. That is needed at this time.

8. I consider myself a member of the virtual church. So all this was fine by me. But I am so accustomed to hearing handclaps and people hollering "Halleluyah" and "Amen" and "That's right, Pastor!" None of that occurred. Just a good simple message about fear. Lot's of scripture in the Bible about fear. Good to get a good primer on it.

9. I miss my workplace friends, and friends in general. And I have only been home for two whole days!

10. One good thing.  The great Tayari Jones taught me about Whatsapp, and we can talk to each other via video. This is EXTREMELY helpful. Made my day. We live a couple of miles from each other. So much easier to just go over to her house, but alas... the circumstances of the day has everyone inside.

11. Funniest thing that happened during this time. Last week, me and Tayari were on her front stoop bartering items. I traded her four lemons and a two pound bag of rice for a digital thermometer. That was a great trade. I know people rolling by were thinking... what are they doing?  Earlier that week, I took her some rubbing alcohol. Who knew these things would be so hard to fine. Rice is hard to find. Alcohol is hard to fine.

12. Let's not even talk about the toilet paper crisis... One of my coworkers, a non-melaninated youngster who just started working there, was out of paper and could not find any. I told her I had extra.

She was like... oh my, thanks for thinking about me. So I had to treat her like family.

"Should I treat her like family?" I asked a nearby employee, a sister...
"Yeah," the sista said.
"You sure?"
She nodded.
I turned to the employee and said "Look here girl, you gonna take this toilet paper, or I'ma bust you upside your head!"
She bowed her head and said, "Okay."

That's right. You gonna take this toilet paper.

13. I was walking around the house counting rolls of toiler paper (I'd been buying it over the past three weeks), and found I had forty rolls... and that's outside the 4 pack of angel soft triple roll I gave her.

HUMPH.  Who woulda thought toilet paper would disappear off the face of the earth like this!!!??

Corona, corona... Thoughts on the Coronavirus

I tell you what... this coronavirus epidemic, or pandemic, is FASCINATING.

And I don't mean fascinating in a good way. Just fascinating in that in less than a month or two, we are going CRAZY. We are on the verge of, if not now a caught up in, a full blown panic.

All of the hand sanitizer is GONE. Gone!!!

And it reminds me that it don't take much to have us running around with our hair on fire.

I wasn't paying THAT much attention to this whole thing until I started looking for information on it a few months ago and I couldn't find any good information to satisfy my curiosity. And it was one of those things where people were saying, "Call LadyLee... I bet she knows about it."

"Heck, I don't know what's going on. It's in the same family as a cold or the flu," was my usual retort.

That was all I could find. And that worried me.

And I had to tell my friends, "I'm looking for info, but there's not much.

But alas, I came across a GREAT YouTube sight that explains things thoroughly and succinctly.

Medcram

This doctor does updates everyday. I think he is on day 34 or 35. It is interesting and makes a lot of sense. Maybe it is just the scientist in me, but it was easy enough to understand.  The doctor is some type of pulmonary specialist, and he's up to update 34. I think he does upwards of five updates per week. There are a ton of other videos on topics such as asthma, sleep, etc. It has to be one of the best uses of 15 minutes in my day. HIGHLY educational and everything is explained in simple terms.

Another site: the coronavirus page:  Worldometer.com

This site is updated daily with insanely detailed info concerning the statistical information of the virus' effects per country.

So right now, those are the main sites I consult.

(I also found another one this week. Viral: Coronavirus. It is a podcast available on some platforms)

I really started paying attention when our beloved President was on TV talking about how he didn't think it was that serious. And how he thought the media was making up stuff, yada yada yada....

Had me staring at the TV like the cats are staring at me here.

(Notice the strange look of disdain on Sister Callie Jo's face. That was the look on my face when the President was talking all that talk).

THAT'S the reason I am paying so much attention to it. Because our beloved president stretches the truth like a rubberband. And ain't nobody got time for that.

Things really got serious the other day when the Feds dropped the interest rate. Then some schools shut down. And some cruise ships were not allowed to dock.  And the stock market also dropped like a rock off a building.
Now, they are shutting down the NBA, MLB, and NHL. No NCAA March madness this year. And shutting down travel on some level from Europe. The price of oil went down. I think there's a lot going on that no one is telling us if they are doing all this. Sigh.

This is some craziness! This is like some type of thriller suspense novel. But it is real life.

I am wondering what will be happening six months from now?

Kinda makes me yearn for the days when we got all upset about petty issues.

This here ain't petty, honey. Not in the least. And it has me wishing for petty days.

Everybody be safe, and take safety precautions. And please, don't stress yourself out.

That's what I'll be doing... staying calm and going about my day with caution...

On purpose.

Blanket Season, Part 3

*I made this tricolor granny square blanket (green, pink, and white), for my coworker's first grandbaby!  It took approximately 40 hours.
