Saturday Seven

Thank God for Saturdays, but whew chile... this was a busy day. I think I could have the Saturday 27. But I will pick out the most interesting parts of the day.

1. I walked FOUR miles today. And what was interesting is that I explored a new route. I walked to the zoo, which I never do, and I found out I live a mile from it. So that is a good marker if I want to measure my walks a little better. I find myself getting bored if I don't switch my walking routes up from time to time.

2. I think it was around 70 degrees today. And of course I wore some shorts and a t-shirt. I think this weekend will be the final time to do that, as it will be cold and rainy next week. I have walked in the rain with my umbrella before. Let's just say that that's not a great idea. I need sunshine and tweeting birds when I walk!!

3. I went to the Whole Foods today. Yes it's a Saturday, but I expected it to be empty. Why?

Because the big SEC championship was going on. And yes, it pretty much was like going there on a weekday during the middle of the day. And all the chicken wings and broccoli was gone. (I can understand the wings... but the broccoli? Hmm).

4. I also went to this wholesale spot which is an Asian bootleg version of Sam's club. It even has a name similar to Sams Club. There is no door to this place. You go in through a bootleg loading dock. (Took me a minute to figure this out my first time there). And the

Asian cashiers are behind bulletproof glass. (Interestingly enough, the door to the cashier station is always open. So what is the point of the bulletproof glass?) They only take cash and debit cards, and over the years, they don't take debit cards issued by certain banks. There is no lovely music playing softly over the overhead speakers. And it is VERY dark. I have been looking for something, and someone steps out of the shadows asking if I need some help. (Yikes).

It's a bit intimidating. But it is near my house and it is cheap. And the people are nice.

5. Part of me over the years has wanted to call up the Sams people and report them for copyright infringement. But here's the kicker: this place was around BEFORE Sams club and before Walmart became a thing. So... maybe it's the other way around, lol.

6. My sister needed snacks for her students. They are at that age where they like hot chips, hot takis, hot fries, all that type of stuff. And This place has all that bootleg stuff. They have a whole room devoted just to chips. So I bought around 60 bags of various chips. I also needed some storage containers for food. And some of those little sample cups for sauces, etc. I think I spend $60, which was a heckuva lot cheaper than Walmart or Amazon!

7.  By the time I got home, it was near dark. This is odd for me, as I haven't driven much during the pandemic, and not at all when I have to use my headlights. It was a very interesting experience. Not gonna get caught out late like that again. No ma'am. No sir.

Such an interesting day it was. Well, at least for me. And that's a good thing!

Saturday 7

So looka here... looka here.
.
A Saturday night post. That is so rare. I can barely post on the weekday, let alone the weekend. But I just felt like it. So here's a Saturday 7.

1. I had a pretty good day today, but I had a funky time getting started.

2. It is a... hormonal time of the month. And my medicine takes a moment to kick in. I am dragging until it does.

3. Notorious J's "Sip and See" was today.

4. My sister's best friend did such a fine job with it all. I will do a full post next week.

5. We co-hosted, but I tell you, I am a tomboy, and it don't do you any good to have a tomboy for a sister. This means I can't plan anything like this worth a damn. Nope. So she did all the work, with an occasional text here or there from me looking for direction.

6. The last baby shower I planned was in the year 2000. And that was at work in New Orleans, and by committee.

That "baby" is 17 years old now.  I last saw her when she was 8. Time flies like a kite, don't it?

7.  I had lovely drive home. But I stopped by an interesting barbecue joint on the way home. This is the south, so barbecue joints are scattered all over the place, but this one is a southern barbecue/korean fusion place.

Who does that?

Heirloom Market Barbecue!

Good good stuff. Confuses the brain, but it's still good!

LOL

Saturday Night 7

7 Things! On a Saturday! So here we go.

1. This has been a decent enough day, even though I didn't get my day going well until after 1:00 pm. Shame on me for staying in bed all morning.

2. Once I did get up, I got dressed and decided to drive Pam.

She has been sitting in the back of the driveway under a tree. I haven't really driven her since January. She was covered in sticky pollen.

3. I rarely drive her, which is a shame. She was filthy as all get out, so I took her to the car wash. A good vacuum and wash and she looks halfway presentable.

4. Pam was in desperate need of windshield wipers. I bought her some at the local auto store. I gave the person who installed them a $5 tip.

He said, "You didn't have to do that."

"Yes I did," I replied. "I'm a girl, and I don't know how to change windshield wipers nor do I care to learn."

5. While in that particular pseudo-gentrified neighborhood, I joined a gym I'd been eyeing since October.

October!

Geez. Ain't it just about to be MAY? Ugh.

6. So I left the car wash, I tried to go to the Curb Market. Not a big deal, as I could jump through the hippie district, i.e., Little Five Points, skirt through the gentrified Inman park area and be there in about 10 minutes flat.

WRONG.

There was a big Inman Park festival. I only remembered when I got tied up in the INSANE traffic in that neighborhood. I was stuck in traffic for 45 minutes.  I was just trying to get some 3 miles away. UGH.

I ain't never seen that many white folks out and about in my life. WOW.

7. I ended up going to the Whole Foods instead. Please remind me not to do any grocery shopping on a Saturday. NO.

8. So right now, I am watching The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu.

One word.

CREEPY.

And I'm not even sure what the world is going on. I have to go look up some analysis or something.

Or I may just have to sit this one out. It's enough to give me nightmares.

That is it for Saturday 7.

This Saturday was a day rife with high class problems.

And that is fine by me... and I am thankful for that.

Because things could always be worse.

Saturday 7

A quick Saturday Seven!

1. I was laying in bed, about to go to sleep, and I forgot to post. I can't mess up my perfect April 2017 record so far.

2. I didn't leave the house today. I didn't plan to. I didn't want to get caught up in the Easter traffic. So my errands will have to wait until tomorrow. I washed a TON of clothes and cleaned up the kitchen. That's not much but it is something.

3. To my surprise, the Coachella festival is live streaming on youtube. They have some state-of-the-art cameras, microphones and speakers. This stream is in some type of super HD, some HD that hasn't even come out yet. Man oh man!

4. Future is up on stage now. I have no idea what the world he is saying. But my goodness.... these white folk know every word. What the world... All I know, he talk about a lot of codeine, percosets, and molly.  Stop it, I say. STOP.

5. I am waiting on Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar. I don't think this Oldgirl gonna make it. Kendrick comes out at 11:45 pm PST. That is 2:45 am EST. Um, nope. I an taking my tail to bed. (Well, I may stay up and write until I get sleepy).

6. My crazy, uh, I mean, overly emotional neighbor, who likes to tare up stuff and cuss folks out amongst other things, asked to borrow my lawn mower. I said yes, as I rarely use it. She used it and returned it promptly without no tomfoolery. Thank goodness for that. LadyLee does not need to be fighting over no lawn mower.

7. My sister came over this evening. We watched Moonlight and an episode of Underground. We didn't have to watch anything. I was just glad to just look at her. I am so glad she is home.

That is my Saturday 7! Glory!

Saturday 7

7 thoughts on a SATURDAY. So here we go.

(Gotta come up with something interesting so I can blog everyday).

1. Today didn't start off great. I was suppose to get up and go to my Writing Workshop waaay out on the deep eastside. But I overslept. And I have to get up early to get out of here if I am going to be on time... 40 miles away. Ugh.

2. So today was a LAZY day. I have a strange habit of catching up on sleep on Saturday. That needs to stop. I may need to just treat it like a regular work day.

3. The people across the street have been having some type of party for the past couple of days. I am sincerely hoping that somebody over there didn't die, and that is why so many people are around.

4. I wouldn't know about the folks across the street. They don't speak. As a matter of fact, the lady runs in the house whenever I come out, or I am leaving for work. I have NO idea what's up with that. It is SUPER weird.

5. My rule: I speak to you two times, and you don't return the greeting, i.e., look at me crazy, then I don't speak to you anymore. I hate to be that way, but OH WELL.

6. I took out the trash today and I cleaned the living room. Everything else will have to wait until tomorrow. That is what I get for being lazy. Humph.

7. So I have been watching 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. All day.
And at times, it has been watching me sleep on the couch.

It is interesting. But all this TEENAGE ANGST. Ugh. It's too much. It is just too much. I am some 30 years removed from my teenage years. This is definitely for teenagers. Worth watching, though, even though I have fell asleep or wondering off from time to time.

Well... I made it through my Saturday 7 thought. Since I wandered around the house today, I didn't think I had any cool thoughts for the day, but apparently I did.

And that's a good thing.

Saturday 7 (Saturday Love)

Look at that... Ain't posted in a whole week, but I have the nerve to be posting on a Saturday Night.

What the world.

Don't matter. I want to post something in this precious space of time that my laptop is acting right.

So here we go.

1.  I've been working like a Hebrew slave these past couple of weeks. I know that I am working at least 50 hours or more a week right now.

2. I am learning that I am too old for such long work hours. I do wish I had my 20-year-old self back.

3. This week I have had a strange sinus thing going on. It is lupus related because it affects my right side (my symptoms are always on my right side).  It is sort of like how I felt when I visited Colorado, where I was having nose bleeds from being at a high altitude. I think this may be a flare from just being all stressed out. NOT good.

4. I went to work today. This is the second Saturday in a row. I worked from 9 to 5. Straight with no lunch. I am gansgsta like that. Well, wanna be gangsta. I need my YOUNG gangsta self back.

5. Best part of the day: getting off work and driving home... with no radio. Just me and my thoughts and my quiet ponderings concerning my day. I always remind myself that no matter how good or bad the day was, something positive happened. Always.

6. I haven't been eating right. I need a good 2 day juice cleanse.I do have some Mommie Boost in the fridge. Might have to fall over into that.

7. I am OFF on Monday. Not the best idea to be off. But I have a doctor's appointment with my hematologist.  And I have to turn in a 24 hour urine test to my other doctor. AND I need to go get my tag for Lucy Jr. (I will worry about Pam some other time. Sigh).

I will be running around hard all day long.  I have to, as I can't take off any other time.

Bonus

8.  I have to remind myself of one thing... and it's one of my favorite quotes of sort.

Like a hairdo, this situation is temporary.  Just like a hairdo.

Aww yes... felt so good to post.

So so good.

On a Saturday, even. Still all good.

My favorite song on a Saturday: Saturday Love...

I love that song. It makes me want to get up and do a Wonder Woman spin.

Several Wonder Woman spins.

Spin until I fall out from dizziness.

LOL.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Saturday 7

Here we go again with another Saturday 7!

1. It was dreary this morning, and rain was in the forecast. They even issued a flash flood watch for 1:00 pm today. This didn't matter, as it is a Saturday. I could just lay in my bed and sleep the day away, right? Wrong.

2. I couldn't sleep the day away because I had a haircut appointment at 2:00 pm.  So much for staying out of the rain.

3. My last haircut was in September... so I really needed to go, even though my hair only grew less than half an inch. It was sho nuff... kinky. It was either get it all cut off or slap a perm in it.

4. To make things worse, Aunt Flo is here. And you know how I am during that time. I am like the women of the bible: pitch a tent for me on the outskirts of the city and let me just sit there in solitude. That means I just want to be alone and sleep. But I couldn't do that when I needed this haircut.

5. I always have grand plans for weekend chores. They are grand indeed. But I didn't get much done today. I cleaned up the kitchen and I managed to wash clothes. I kept laying back down.

6. My writing workshop facilitator Dawn called talking about a workshop tomorrow. After my whining about how Aunt Flo is here and I want to lay down somewhere, I agreed to a workshop tomorrow. I went by the Whole Foods for some fruit for the ladies. She wanted me to pick up some strange biscotti cookies or crackers. I didn't see them. I guess I will be baking cookies tomorrow. Sigh.

7. Hair appointment went well. I look cute, and I feel free. And my barber Mr. Soho didn't give me that hard of a time. However, he doesn't like when I frown up while he's cutting. He kept saying "Stop it!".  My frowning is not my fault. That razor sounds like a dentist's drill. My dentist says "Stop it!" also. I wonder if they know each other. LOL

That's it for Saturday 7.  Nice easy day... and that's the way I like 'em.

Saturday Seven

Only a few days before Christmas, and the streets and stores are crowded.

And I know this because I was out in it.

Normally I don't get with the hustle and bustle. But I've worked all week and had no choice.

So I crunk up ol' Pam, and I headed out.  I bought a plethora of items today. So I thought today's Saturday Seven would be a list of what I bought today.

1. A wireless speaker. I have been eyeing this speaker for the past year. I finally bought it. I haven't used it because it has to charge up. Sigh.

2. A pair of wireless headphones. I was REALLY excited about these. I have used them and I have to take them back. They hurt my ears, and they gave me a headache. I don't do well with rigid headphones at all. Those are going back. After the Christmas rush, of course.

3. An ice cream scooper. A REALLY nice and fancy one, not one of those cheap ones.

4. Two crochet needles. I didn't really need them. But it never hurts to buy them and put them up. I tend to lose these easily. Instead of looking for them, I open the utility drawer in the kitchen and retrieve a nice new one. (I find the lost ones while cleaning up. Usually they are between the couch cushions).

5. Toothbrush. My old one in the downstairs bathroom is getting soft. I am too lazy to go upstairs to use my newer one. Easier to buy another one!

6. Gift Cards. I bought two gift cards for my sister today. One is a from a juice bar, and the other is a gas card. Someone at work said I should give her a "real" gas card, i.e., a $200 or $300 gas card. *crickets*... Uh, no. That girl would do cartwheels up and down the street if I did that, lol. Wish I could, though. She is a great sister and deserves it.

Anyway, I want to buy one more card, from the Whole Foods or the Farmers Market.

7. A Roku 3. Yes I bought a Roku, which is a streaming device for the TV. I have netflix, and my sister has hulu, and between the two of us, we got it going on. I can even stream my spotify on my television. GLORY!

So that's it for Saturday 7.

I hope you had a great Saturday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Saturday 7... The Oscar-Tyrone Edition

1. It rained this morning. And it is nice when it rains on a Saturday Morning. But it wasn't nice that I had to get out in the rain. It wasn't very cold and there wasn't very much traffic. So that was a good thing.

2. Why did I get out in the rain at 8:45 this morning? To take Oscar-Tyrone to the vet out on the Eaaaastsiiiiide. He had a 9:20 appointment.

3. It was a good drive, since virtually no one was out.

4. I may have been in the car at 8:45, but I didn't leave until 8:57. Why? Couldn't find my cell phone. I finally saw that it had fell out of my purse and was laying on the backseat. Sigh.

5. I bought Oscar a new carrier, which was much to small for him. He screamed and hollered all the way to the vet office.

6, He was shellshocked into silence when we walked into the vet office. Maybe he remembers the place. Not one yell, not one meow. Even when the vet assistant took him back somewhere for his bloodwork. Quiet as a mouse, he was.

7. Did I mentioned he was shell shocked? This is what shell shocked looks like:

Every time he heard a dog bark he was O_O.

Yes, he was a basket case.

Bonus:  He seems to be doing okay. He is a tad bit dehydrated. The bloodwork and urine, which is part of the annual exam, will tell much. He has maintained his weight pretty much over the last year, only losing 0.3 pounds. I told the vet he had some constipation issues, and that I have to mix beans, peas, and pumpkin with his food and plenty of water for him to eat. She said that he is having issues that most older cats have (he is 16).

So hopefully the Oldcat will be okay. If he needs more extensive help, I'm not going to be able to do it. It is much too expensive. He is running around playful and eating well. And that is a good thing.

Saturday 7

Been a long time since I've done a "Saturday Seven".  So here are a few thoughts from my day.

1. I am sitting here on a Saturday night watching the Soul Train Music Awards. It's a shame that the production of the Soul Train Music Awards is much better and less ratchet than the BET awards.

2. I had the best smoothie this morning: spinach, pineapple and blueberries, with a juiced apple base. I am going to have to make that again.

3. I hung out with my sister Kentucky today. And there were no discussions of her isshas with our mother. That made it a good time. It felt good not to be angry today.

4. She accompanied me to my Triple F (Financial Freedom Fighters) Posse meeting today. I've been quietly asking her to go and today and we went together. She walked in and everyone jumped up like she was a movie star.

5. I enjoyed the meeting today. It is great whenever I get around nonjudgmental people. It feels great not to be on guard and I can just be me.

6.  Kentucky turned me on to this local chiropractor and nutritionist Dr. Joe Esposito. He has local radio show some good lectures on youtube. He is right up my alley. I might have to holler at him.

7.  I knocked $40 off my monthly landline phone bill. Now if I could just find that phone. It's probably under the couch.

Saturday Seven (Saturday Love!)

I didn't do a post yesterday...

Thought I would do one today!

I will show you some Saturday Love... with a Saturday Seven.

I am thinking along the lines of what I've done today, or what I plan on doing.

1. I prayed for 2 hours this morning. That NEVER happens. I am good for an hour. By the time I was finished, I wanted to get up and do a church shout and a church spin in my living room, honey! Really!

GLORY!

2. I crocheted this morning.I am trying my darndest to finish this baby blanket.

I measured only 5 more rounds left, and I did 2 rounds this morning, I suppose. I did that during my prayer time. Praying and crocheting has some additive synergistic effect. Not sure what's up with that.

I have my yarn for a new blanket, and I am eager to start on that. Maybe tomorrow. I plan on finishing this one this weekend.

3. I juiced this morning. I had a sweet potato, orange and pineapple juice. That was REALLY good. It was a version of "Mama's Morning Star", back when I let PlayMama give me some suggestions for my morning juices. I posted about some of those last year, along with this one.  That is one of my favorites.

4. I had a fun time texting with Singlema this morning. Always a joy to talk to her. I call her the "Gazelle intense chicken". She is intense like a gazelle trying to escape the jowls of a lion. Intense with her goals of the moment. That is a good thing for me to witness, and a quality I admire, as it is a quality I lack... severely lack.

5. Scripture of the day: My favorite that I discussed this morning:

Proverbs 4:23  Keep and guard your heart with all due diligence, for out of it flows the issues of life.

Other versions:

Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life. (NCV)

Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of your life. (CEV)

Whatever I continuously feeding my heart and mind shows up in my life. Can't get around it, man. Nerp.

You know you can't. How the world are we getting mad when we see all this mess going on in the world? All that started with thoughts... some well fed thoughts over a period of time. Prove me wrong on that one.

Me and you... we form a skydiving club... meet once a week... discuss skydiving articles, movies, etc... view a few skydiving youtube videos... keep on doing that...

We are eventually going to go skydiving.

That is all.

Moving right along.

6. Favorite activity of the morning: Going over and reading and blogging out of control in the comment section of Bliss' Living the Next Steps blog. I know she has to be rolling her eyes and hollering "That doggone, Ladylee! Danggonit!!"  LOL.

Shoot, man... she's doing a daily juicing challenge for herself. And I am being quite nosy. I've been trying some of the ones she is trying. And some new concoctions. I am loving it. If I can cop ten good ideas from her, I'm GOOD.

Me and my piggyback riding self. LOL

7. Movies I watched today...

Charlotte's Web (2006 version),

Double Jeopardy

Double Jeopardy is one of my favorite movies. I would love to write something like that. Man!

I like the cartoon version of Charlotte's web much better. Loved it as a child. This one was okay.

That's it for my Saturday Seven! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Saturday Night Special: Saturday Seven... Thoughts:

I said I would post everyday. And that I will...

Seven things I'm thinking about on this Saturday night...

1. I have been in a funk all week. I think it's the weather, as it's been overcast all week.

2. I stayed in the bed until 5 pm today. Wait, no I didn't. I actually got up to hit the bathroom whenever necessary, and to make some juice, as I had NO appetite today. I had lettuce-apple-parsely juice for breakfast and tomato-carrot juice around 3. Nothing for dinner.

Somehow I think I'm going to wake up in the middle of the night, jump in the car and go a searching for a bowl of chitlins. Sigh.

3. I went to church tonight. In and out in an hour flat. I got a couple of good pages of notes. Most important thing I heard. Most interesting thing I wrote down:

"Wisdom is the ability to skillfully apply what you know."

I realize I know much, but I need to be consistent with the application of the knowledge. Go figure.

Me and my consistency problems.

4. I washed and folded 3 loads of clothes today. And I washed dishes. So maybe I did get out of the bed today for more than bathroom breaks and freshly juiced juice.

5. I had an hour long conversation with my sister Kentucky this morning. She wanted to know how to sautee kale. I broke down my usual version (even though I've been juicing it lately... hope I told her right). She's working hard on eating right, and getting lined up with the church fast.  I'm happy for her. Her big sister LadyLee is sitting over here going rogue.

6. There has been an interesting highlight of my so-so week. One of our security guards read my story Watch and he talked my ear off about it. I've never seen someone's eyes light up like that. I think I would've been late for work if CowgirlCre wasn't coming in at the same time and uh, highly suggested that I walk away.

We discussed the story in detail later on.

He said, "Man oh man, I am so glad and so honored to have met someone like you."

No, it wasn't a pick up line. But I've heard that before. And it shocks me. Because i'm just your friendly neighborhood Oldgirl, LadyLee. And I've heard it in the vein of me being such an incredibly unique individual. It is rare to meet someone with such a mind and heart and accomplishment level such as mine. And then I go off in some other direction and craft up stories... hmmm...

I feel that way about a few folks in my life. They are like points of light that waft through the darkness... and I'm increased and enlightened by them passing along my path, if only for a moment.
That just all made me think of that... and be thankful for that.

7. This song has been on my mind lately...

Here's the link to the video on youtube if you can't see it.

That doggone Pandora. Sitting in lab, crunching data, minding my own business, and this song made me pause.

Usually when this happens I'm thinking... hmm, that would add the layer I need to a particular story. But that's not really the case here.  Why?  Because I think this has been every woman's story at some time in her life. Not sure why, but it is so...

"Why does my body ignore what my mind says... I try to keep it intact but I'm up in this bed."

Hmm... You may be all perfect. But I ain't. And I'm not afraid to admit to it.

Been THERE. Done THAT. Numerous times.

It reminds me of a bit of advice I gave to my sister Kentucky at one time, and to a couple of other young ladies caught up off in some ratchetness with a man...

We all go through mess. But there is a time when you find that you get brutally honest with yourself and admit to yourself that you are caught up in some mess.... then, and only then (after you get over the embarrasment of what you going through with that fool... or maybe you're the fool in the situation) can you start the process of separating yourself from that which is not good for you and going on with your life.

That latter part is what's critical...

Getting your heart and mind back together... and getting YOU back...

And moving on.

That's what's critical..

We still talk about that. It's amazing how she remembers and holds on to advice I give her.  Getting my thoughts and opinion on anything is like pulling teeth and she has that knack of staying in my face until she gets my thoughts...

It's interesting the thoughts that some songs can trigger... and that wasn't even Jill's premise for the song. Hmm...

Those are my Saturday Seven Thoughts for this Saturday evening... didn't expect them to be THAT long.

I guess I'm thinking about much today...

Saturday Seven

Shame on Me!

But I forgot to put up a post yesterday.

Normally, during the week, I tend to put up something at night.

But last night? I sent a few good-night texts....

And I was OUT like a light.

Sigh.

I was a sleepy Oldgirl. By Friday evening, I am worn out from a long week.

So today, I will do a Saturday Seven.

Seven things I wanna do, seven thoughts, seven whatever...

Potpourri!

1. I must crochet today. One of the most difficult things for me to do is to get a crochet project started. So that is what I will do today. For November, I want to finish my baby blanket project. Yes sir!

2. Chores, chores, chores! Chores all day today. Sigh. I had been doing great with my weekly chores, but goodness gracious alive, honey... It has been a busy week at work! Goodness! I need to switch up my strategy. I am pretty alert in the mornings, so I need to assign myself at least one chore for the morning.

3. Yardwork. I am currently awaiting a local to drop by and paint my porch rails and stain my porch. I must admit I was mean to him during the week. I told him LAST Saturday to come by on THIS Saturday. I needed to go buy supplies.

Why on earth did I come home Monday to my grass cut?

Looks mighty nice. Even my bushes are all trimmed up.

Sorry bruh... I will pay you on Saturday.

He has been coming by all week... making me madder and madder.

That first 30 minutes of my arriving home is decompression time. I don't want to talk to NOBODY. I just want to think about my day, and decide what I want to do with the evening. Talking to local folks just short circuits the cheese out of my process!

Yes I was mad. Yet it caused me to stop and think. It forced me to rein in that anger emotion. So yes, it was an opportunity for growth.

Yeah, I haven't seen him this morning. Fine.

You don't get paid until you finish everything. Have a blessed day! LOL

4. Reading. I have to read today. I am close to finishing up the book of Jeremiah. And I am 3/4ths of the way through Living Beyond your Feelings by Joyce Meyer. So some light reading is on my schedule today.

5. Prayer. That is already done for the day. I think that has been one of the best activities of my year thus far: to get up in the morning, before the sun even comes up and pray. Hands down, the best thing I have done for myself all year. Especially if I spend a good hour doing it. You wouldn't believe the answers and clarity concerning many issues in my life that I have received this year. I am so thankful for that.

6. My favorite picture of the week. One of that Original Oldcat, Oscar-Tyrone.

I took that right after prayer. He knows prayer time means get somewhere and sit down and have some quiet time of his own.

He looks less surley than usual. And that's a good thing.

Oscar-Tyrone turned 14 this month. Happy Birthday Oscar-Tyrone!

7. Television. Man, I need a good Lifetime Movie. I love Lifetime... television for women. But as the SNL skit a couple of weeks ago said... television for White women.

LOL!!!!! If you can't see that, then click this link.

Yeah... you learn from shows like Snapped, and virtually anything on Lifetime: White women got some issues, too.

Really though.

Well, that is my Saturday 7 for this Saturday!

Hope you are having a great weekend!!

Saturday 7

I was making my "to-do list" for today, and I just knew that I was leaving something off of it.

Indeed I did. I forgot that I needed to post today.

Man, I, like a few others, am READY for this daily posting thigamajig to be over.

It seems like such a good idea at the beginning of the month. I myself could post twice a day if I had the time. But once you get towards the middle, and definitely towards the end, it's like GEEEZUSSS! Let's be done already.

LOL

Anyway, I suppose I'll do a Saturday Seven.

What will your Friendly Neighborhood Oldgirl be getting into today?

Well, I didn't leave the house yesterday. I needed to let the Black Friday peoples do their thing. I have no patience for craziness.

1. Clean up. I am constantly cleaning up. I don't like that. Most of it is because I am real tired after work. I just want to sit it down and chill out and just go to bed. So my weekdays aren't all that productive. Like many, I save cleaning for the weekend. this morning, I've already cleaned the kitchen, the laundry room, the dining room... I've mopped and wash and folded clothes. I think tonight I will tackle my bedroom and bathroom and living room. But I have to come up with a good way to do more cleaning up during the week. I like my weekends a bit more freed up.

2. Crochet. I am waaay behind on a crochet project. I am making a blanket for my friend's January 9th birthday. I am like, 30% done, so I better get on it, doggonit!!

3. Read. I plan on reading my bible and my daily devotional. I have a writing book I'm perusing right now, so I may get into that a little. I try to read one book over the holidays, and for the Thanksgiving holiday I read Push. I am uh, deeply disturbed now. Definitely not a feel good holiday book.

4. Write. Of course I didn't fulfill my NaNO obligation. Nor had I really intended to. This month was used to work out some key problems with one of my short stories, which is a novella really. I did that just fine. I have about 15 chapters done, and I think I may have 5 more. So I'll be writing around 1500 words tonight, and working on transferring some of my longhand written chapters to the computer. So I am happy about that.

5. Grocery. I plan on hitting up Wal-mart and the Farmers Market today. I need to go later, to let the crowds clear out some. I don't like crowds, man!

6. Eat. Yep, gotta eat today. I have no real idea what I'll be eating. I had oatmeal for breakfast. This is nothing new, as I eat oatmeal for breakfast 95% of the time. This morning I hooked it up with peaches, cranberries, raisins and almond milk and honey. It was sho nuff good. Almost gave me the itis!

7. Post office. This has been an AWFUL postal year for me. I haven't mailed anybodys stuff to them in a timely manner. I am always looking for extra stuff I need to put in the gift, stuff like that. I promise to improve this year coming up. I am learning that I have to plan a month in advance, instead of hollering about how I have time. No I don't have time. Pack it up and send it early if I have to. Then it may be also psychological with me. The three post offices I use, well, there is always some HIGH drama going on there. Somebody cussing out the workers, amongst other stuff. I cannot STAND that.

So I may go today, or early tomorrow morning. We will see.

That is it for my Saturday Seven.

Pretty boring, hunh? That's the way I like it, Man!

I hope you enjoy your Saturday. Make it a great weekend on purpose!

Saturday 7: An Oldgirl's To Do List

So, I guess I have to post today, hunh?

I don't get the weekend off?

The HORROR!!

LOL.

No horror. I can always come up with something.

It is VERY cold this morning. If I heard the weatherman right, it is like, 30 degrees or something like that.

This means I need to stay in the bed under this down comforter... all day.

Uh, no.

I got stuff to do today. And that's the topic for the Saturday Seven.

1. Clean Up. Good grief, I've been bone tired when I've gotten home at night. Eat and go to bed. Plus Aunt Flo was hanging out, so you KNOW I was somewhere trying to lay it down.

So I need to clean up the house. I have a very small house, so that will take no longer than 2 hours...

2. Crochet. I have a project due in early January, and one in February... And I'd planned on working on that during the week, but I wasn't hearing that at all. So I'll work on it today. If I find a good Lifetime Movie, then I can get much done.

3. Write. I have been writing scenes longhand this week. I have to get those typed up, and do some editing. I plan on spending about an hour and a half on that today.

4. Read. I am currently reading Jodi Picoult's Handle with Care. Excellent book. It is my book club book, and I'm only a fourth of the way through it. So I best get cracking!

5. Wash Clothes. I think this falls under the cleaning up thing, but not quite. I have 3 loads of clothes to wash. I better get on in there before my sister Kentucky gets in there. That girl will be in there all day, and I'd be looking straight crazy.

6. Eat. Not sure what's on the menu today. I know I'll have oatmeal chocked full of raisins and prunes with almond milk and walnuts for breakfast. I think I'll have a black bean burger on a sprouted bun, and some fruit for lunch. And for dinner, I want to make some cream of mushroom soup. No heavy cream in this one, but using some homemade cashew cream instead. This may or may not work, but it's my project for the day.

7. Yack on the phone. Okay, you know I'm running out of stuff to say, lol. Gotta call LadyTee. Can't call her right now, cuz she still sleep, and I don't want to get cussed. So I'll call her in about an hour. She is the only person I ever really call, so that's that.

That's it for Saturday Seven.

I hope you have a great weekend planned.

Make sure you enjoy it!!

Saturday Seven

I almost forgot that I was suppose to blog today.

And I don't even have a topic!

Ugh.

But I will snatch an idea from my blog brutha Keith, and do a Saturday Seven.

I suppose I will title it:

"7 Things LadyLee is Doing Today"

1. Cleaning up - Today is chore day. I had this brilliant idea to clean up during the week, but that doesn't go over very well after a hard day's work, but my house is reasonable and very small. Therefore, it takes about 2 hours or less to clean up. I am glad of that.

2. Explore a local's farmers market - One of my goals this summer is to take a couple of field trips to local neighborhood farmer's markets. There's a small parking lot farmers market open on Saturday morning in the trendy Morningside/Highlands area. I think I will run have a look-see this mernting!

3. Crochet - I crochet everyday, but I get a good bit done on the weekends. So today I plan on organizing what I've done all week and make a little leeway on a couple of current projects.

4. Perm my hair- Due to my illness, I don't have much hair. But doggonit, if and when it grows, I have to perm it. So today is a perm day. Can't deal with the nappiness!

5. Post Office- I have a few things I need to mail. So, I'm going to the 24 hour black people's post office in Hapeville, where they're SLOW as all get out, and I gotta listen to at least one broad cuss and snap about the snail's pace of the workers. Let's hope fights don't break out!

6. Go to the track - I plan on walking a couple of miles on the track this morning. Need my exercise, man!!

7. Read - I have 3 books that I'm digging into right now:

J. California Cooper's Life is Short but Wide- This is my book club book. I can't really get into it, but this is one of my favorite authors, so I best get to reading. I think it will peak my interest soon.

Kimberly Lawson Roby's One in a Million - bought this one yesterday. Looks to be a novella, as it is pretty short. Read 3 chapters overnight, and may read another.

Octavia Butler's Parable of the Talents - This is a reread. I was reading it with Serenity, but that broad is a reading bandit, and of course, overshot me and finished. I have about 40 pages to go and I plan to knock that out today.

So, there you have it: the 7 thangs the Oldgirl is doing today...

Not popping with excitement, but it's fulfilling to me... and that's alllll I ask for!

Really.

Have a great weekend!!
