LadyLee the Voter...

I voted today...

I live in the city of Atlanta, and there's a big Mayoral race going on...

Shirley Franklin is on her way out, and someone new is on their way in...

Now Shirley's been a good Mayor... but her last year of office, someone dropped the ball down at City Hall. I don't know what's going on, but...

My water bill is 100% higher.

My property tax bill was 30% higher (and ya'll know how HIGH city taxes can be. UGH!)

Somebody dropped the ball, the bat, the helmet... the kitchen sink...

And there's this big "bruh-ha" about keeping city hall black...

Whatever.

You negroes are mucking UP!

I voted for Mary Norwood today...

Mary Norwood for Mayor!!

(I need me a t-shirt with that on it!)

Yeah, I voted for the white lady. Yeah, I'm a traitor! SUE ME!

My white girl alter ego, "Lisa-Anne", is in control...

*Lisa-Anne throwing on long blond wig and fake blue contact lenses*

I voted for Norwood because whenever we had neighborhood meetings, not at a community center but up in someone's house, Mary Norwood was there to answer any questions. And if she couldn't answer the question, she would write that ish down and email us back... She'd even show up with reports of how they were working on various issues like mortgage fraud and blight in the neighborhoods. The chick was knowledgable and PASSIONATE about all thangs ATLien...

I remember thinking a few years ago, "I hope she runs for Mayor, because she is down for the city!"

Where the heck were these other candidates... I don't know anything about them. Ain't seen ya'll's tails nowhere near MY hood.

Yet you want to cheese in my face now? Cuz you want me to vote for you? Would you have be stomping the hoods if you weren't running for Mayor?

Uh, no.

NO, PLAYA!!!

Norwood's been hood deep for a minute. EVERYBODY knows who she is.

I voted for Norwood. I think she will get the job done. I think she might even win without a runoff, because the white folks in the good part of town got her on lock... They'll get out and vote. I went to my precinct this morning before work, and I was the only one up in that camp. I was in and out in 3 minutes flat.

(Didn't look like that when we were voting Obama in. I had to wait 2 hours to vote that day).

I hope you win, Norwood. You've put the work in. Didn't even sling mud in your commercials.

I ought to take my tail down to the Varsity for your election night party.

(Can't do that, Man... I'm tired when I get off from work. I'm taking my behind to the crib).

I know you'll get something done.

Shoot, man...

If that Oldgirl can lower my water bill, heck, that will be enough for me!

Them blues...

This book is sitting on my coffee table right now. . .

Don't look at me in that tone of voice.

I SAID, don't look at me in that tone of voice!.

I ain't gay... An Oldgirl done been with quite a few men.

And I don't ever forsee myself batting for the other team.

And if that's your lifestyle, do you. I still love you, and God do too (and anybody who tells you different, don't believe them!)

No, there's a good reason for my browsing through it. It was on the bookshelf, but I read a story from there this weekend, and just so happen to leave it out.

However, upon recently learning that my mother lingers around my house when I'm not around, and has proudly announced that she likes to "clean up" when she comes over, I wonder what she'd think if she saw that book on the bookshelf??

Or all out on the coffee table?

LOL!

Maybe I'll leave some bogus criminal papers on the end table. Or directions to my halfway house on the kitchen counter.

Oh, the family gossip will light up! That would be like tossing a match into a dry forest!

I would never do such a thing.

It's just that an Oldgirl got them blues.

Blog fam yells "What's wrong, LadyLee?"

I got them blues, man.

Them writing blues...

To be continued...

Hello Monday...

I tell you... Monday rolls around like clockwork, don't it.

GEEZ.

I need a long string of 4 day weekends. LONG string.

Oh, I had a good and very quiet weekend.

Saturday it rained... Sunday it didn't.

I hung around the house, leaving only to buy groceries. I kept busy around the house, getting a lot done. I don't know, I just love a good weekend where I'm not doing a bunch of ripping and running around. I am glad to just be able to be quiet and recuperate from a long work week...

And now we start the wheel all over again... UGH!

At least there will be NO rain in the ATL this week. The forecast is sunny with a high in the 60s. I don't like the temperatures, but that's better than pouring rain!

NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo. I am doing both: writing a novel in a month and posting every day for 30 days.

Miss Celie is not a fan of NaNo. We had some particularly entertaining text messages about it that made me laugh REAL hard. (You are a nut, Miss Celie!! LOL).

But I'm doing it anyway.

Although the writing a novel in a month thing is a bit odd to me. I'm using it for something totally different. I have a gazillion short stories laying around the house, and I am working on one that is about 40 pages long. I want to simply spend time working on it, and thinking about it. PERIOD.

Plus, Serenity is doing it, and ya'll know how I have to put my shoes and socks on and be of some support to that Oldgirl. She always needs to be properly chaperoned. LOL

Posts of the Week: Serenity wrote a most excellent post concerning our doubts, entitled "His Best" .

And there are two that I've been thinking about all week, from Aretha, my Personal Goals Technologist.

*Aretha squints at screen and hollers "What the hell is LadyLee talking about!!!"*

Hush gal... just keep writing. You are helping me with my goal making techniques... Just keep writing.

Anyway, Aretha offers, from a self-reflective stance, her thoughts on the complex nature of friendships, compassion, and forgiveness in Inward.

Aretha also ponders the dicotomy of forgiveness and trust in a post entitled Forgiveness--Trust.

All of those are good posts, and will have you thinking for awhile.

Mini food for thought: A squirrel was crossing some some railroad tracks, trying his best to beat a fast oncoming train. He made it across the tracks, but not before his tail was cut off by the front wheels of the train.

He didn't keep going, but turned around to examine what happen.

And when he did that, his head was cut off by the wheels of the train.

Point of story: DO NOT lose your head over a piece of tail.

You can take that from an uh, romantic viewpoint.

For I, LadyLee, have lost my mind over a few bruthas...

But if we look deeper, it could mean something more.

DO NOT lose your sanity and peace of mind over things that are just not all that important.

And it's up to you to decide what (and who) is important and what (and who) is not important.

Sometimes that's hard to tell, but with time, you can tell...

Yeah... that was all convoluted, wasn't it.

But I bet it made you think.

Book Giveaways. Those will be announced this week. I have to put the names in a bag and draw. There are 3 books in the drawing. I hope you win one!

I'm going in late to work today. Maybe 30 minutes late at the most. (Is that considered late?) I need to run to the doctor, which is waaay out in the sticks, like going out of town... Then I will go to work.

Driving for long periods of time wears me out. Hopefully, I won't be running like Kizzy today at work. We will see...

With that, I hope you all have a good week. On purpose.

Vacation Part VI: The Resort Chapel

You know, I'll probably be posting up pictures of my vacation for the rest of the year, lol...

It is Sunday, a good day for Chapel pictures.

The resort holds weddings at the open air Chapel, Capilla San Valentin:

A beautiful wrought iron Chandalier...

There are candles up there. I suppose they light those. Hope that's safe... Let's just say, I wouldn't be sitting under the chandalier during the service.
Pictures of the inside of the chapel...

There was no wedding planned. If so, I would've loved to attend, if it was open to all...

Very nice indeed.

Stay tune for more vacations pics throughout the month of November...
