Hello there, Mitch!

There's a new fellow in the house.

Mitchell Lamar! Or Mitchell Tyrone. Not sure what he's going to be named.  I may name him Eugene. That's what my brother's name was suppose to be. Or maybe Samuel Lamar.  Or maybe Mitchell Samuel Eugene Lamar Tyrone. Who knows. He hasn't really told me his name yet.

His name is Mittens, but I like full human names. Just in case I need to get a SSN for him and do some tax stuff. (Just kidding).

Most likely, his name will be Mitchell, after LadyTee's dog that just died. Rest in peace, Mitch. She's always had a dog named Mitch, even since high school.  And you know Tyrone comes from the late Oscar-Tyrone.

He's such a sweet kitten. Very quiet. Very loving. So velvety soft. And he likes to cuddle and head butt me. But he is very quiet.  Maybe he's just getting use to new surroundings.

He's a month younger than Callie Jo, but outweighs her by a pound.

I love his little white tip tail.

He'd been trying to sleep...

And then he actually got a little shut-eye.

It wasn't a great idea to do that, because there was Sister Callie Jo to consider...

You can tell... she is PISSED.

She is furiously writing in her Diary of an Angry Orange Woman. Writing hard in big bold angry cramped crooked letters.

"Sister Callie," I had to keep saying. "Sister Callie, calm down."

It was funny when I first walked in the house with him. He jumped out the box and saw her and was like "Oh, a cat. I will walk up to her."

Callie's eyes got big and she expanded to twice her size and was walking on tip-toes.

Mitch backed up. I could see it in his eyes.

"This broad is crazy."

So she is all angry and scatting left and right.

He stayed in a cage last night. And he wailed most of the night. No sir, can't play with you. Callie was on alert, circling his cage early on before I went to bed.

He's in an upstairs bedroom now, his "safe place".  (I didn't get this all together, as I was told that the adoption would be in a week or so). But I did all that this morning.

I have to keep them separated. I will switch their bedding in another couple of days. And as soon as they start playing under the bedroom door, then I will let them get together.

Then they can DUKE it out.

I think Callie will win that one. It's her house. And he is so docile.

I hope he will even her out a little.

Hopefully.

Friday Freestyles... The Bored Kitty Edition

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this picture says a lot.
Someone is terribly bored. I don't know if she is bored with me. Or just bored.

But Sista Callie Jo is bored.

Bored with her freakishly long legs.

LOL

So bored that she likes to climb inside my disposable grocery bags.

Well... I guess I can't use that bag for groceries. Ever again.

And she has dragged her water bowl, a sharpie, and rubber band to her place of rest. I wondered what she had planned for all of that?

Who knows. She is just... bored.  She stayed in that bag for half an hour. At least she was being still. She is worse than a toddler sometimes with all her running around and getting into stuff.

And I am considering getting another kitty this weekend. There's a 20% chance.  I will decide by Sunday. I found a tuxedo boy cat, already fixed. I will see how that works out.

Otherwise, it's been an interesting week. I had two doctor's appointments this week, and they were in the middle of the day, some 30-40 miles from my job. So you know what that means: I had to get to work extra early. One of those days, I just took off.

I don't know, I just don't like getting out of bed unless it is to pray or read. It would do me well to get to work by 7:00 am, as it will only take me about 8 minutes to get in, but my goodness... it is still nighttime around that time!

So I had an appointment with the breast surgeon and all is well. Glory! I will see them in June. I had my normal appointment with my lupus doc, and all is well there also. So I'm all good until next year. Glory again.   Those are some serious church fan and church shouting events.

I don't have much planned for the weekend. I plan on going out and checking on this cat. That's about it.

Quote of the Week. I heard this on the radio morning.

"You're as busy as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs!"

Now if THAT doesn't immediately bring up a very vivid visual in your mind, nothing else will.

Song of the Week. You know I love Justice league production. Here is the instrumental for "Thug Cry" by Rick Ross and Lil' Wayne.

I am NOT a Rick Ross fan. This dude seems to rap about women doing oral, and throwing bricks of cocaine in the back of his Maybach. Sigh. Oh my. I must go back and pull out my old school rap if I want some originality.

Interestingly (but not surprising), the melody and music was jacked from Souls of Mischief.

I am yearning for some original beats. I suppose I will just have to go back and listen to my Earth Wind and Fire CDs. Sigh.

That is it for moi!

You have a good weekend. On purpose!!

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: "Put on the Helmet of Salvation..."

Imagine going to church...

And sitting behind her....

It's enough to make you almost cuss...

But that would be wrong in the house of the Lord.

The best thing to do is to get up quietly, and go find another seat in the sanctuary.

That is all.

Amen.

Cheap Gas! GLORY!

Here's something I'm thankful for right now...

I bought gas the other day...

Look at the prices!

I notice price changes when I go to the pump. Because unlike you, I don't have much of a commute. I live only 4.6 miles from my job, you see. As a result, I fill up Lucy Jr. the Lexus once every three weeks. And Pam the Protege... I think she gets a fill-up (well, maybe 2/3rds a tank) every 3 months or so.

The last time I bought gas, before this last time, I paid $3.99 per gallon. And that's because I bought gas downtown. It's a lot cheaper in the suburbs.

That picture above was taken in the suburbs, near church. I love Quik-Trip.  Good cheap gas!

They say gas may drop below $1.99 a gallon. Wouldn't that be GRAND!!!???

Thank you President Obama for low gas prices! I know they be hatin' on you! But I'm not hatin!

Thank you, Sir!

The Monday After...

I went back to work after 4 days off.

I am feeling a bit... off. I think that's why I don't take too much time off. Sigh.

Alas, it is December! I hope you all got your eat on, got your shop on and all that. And oh yeah, I hope we all remembered to reflect and be thankful.

Like I said last week, I went to my sister's house for thanksgiving.

I am still full.

And that gal, she know she was cooking it up.

And here are a few pics.

First of all, she made my day by having liter bottles of my favorite Italian water available.

I can't pronounce that! But my sister knows I like water in glass. And she had to hear me go on and on about it.

"Water in glass," I said. "Nothing like it. Tastes great, absolutely no aftertaste. Water in glass!"

I said that with every sip. You would've thought that I was singing a song.

Heck, I didn't even have to eat anything. But I did.

So, I saw this sitting in the middle of the table:
I got excited. "Oh, we're having soup?"

"No," my sister said. "That's the pot roast. I was trying to keep it moist."

Oh yea, the pot roast. Keeping it moist. Under an inch of water. Ah yes.

And it worked. I had a little piece. It was good. And moist.

I made some cabbage.

I bought it already shredded, and I added some sliced onions. I sauteed it, and it went super quick. Gonna try it again.

She wanted some of my favorite dish... the butternut squash, pear and cranberry bake. That was really good. (Is that a glass of brown liquor next to the beans?)
The color was retained this time! Oh joy!

And her string beans were awesome. I took a container of that home and I've been eating them all weekend.

Dinner rolls!
Rice!
Beverages!
No brown liquor here... only tea and soda. The water in glass was for me... hence, it is NOT on the table.

A million dollar pie!
Go look up the recipe. The ingredients are something kin to condensed milk, whip cream and pineapples on a graham cracker crust. Sweet, but VERY good.

Double chocolate cake!
I've made that before.  My friend Dawn calls it the "Better than Sex Cake".

Humph. I am puzzled every time I hear my friend say that. It doesn't quite register. I guess she just REALLY likes chocolate cake. Really.

My sister said she wanted to make that cake. I asked if she needed a copy a recipe. It turns out she copied it from my Southern cook book a few years ago.

That's it for our Thanksgiving dinner. She fried some chicken also. And she wanted some ham, but she didn't want to go buy a whole ham.  There was some sliced ham at the Whole Foods hot bar, so I got her a few pieces.

It's easier to buy a few slices than to buy a whole one. That was enough for her.

I also made some dressing.

I don't care to chop veggies for dressing for some reason... But here they are:

I do well when I lay everything out like that.  I think I chopped it up while watching the news.

Here is the dressing before baking:

 Here's the finished dressing.

That was super easy because I had two slices of cornbread in the fridge. I bought one leg quarter and boiled the hell out of it. I sauteed up some mushrooms, onions, peppers and celery and that was that. Super easy. It could have used a can of chicken broth, but it was very good.

I roasted some Brussel sprouts.

Those didn't make it over to my sister's house, as I was eating those all morning long. Maybe next time!

All in all it was a good meal. My sister cooked a ton of food. I think she just wanted to cook. Nothing wrong with that. She had friends coming through, and she has her leftovers for the week. Good for her.

And good for me. I got all my veggies. And my water in glass.

And my sister got her "Cook on".

Most important of all... we spent time together.

And that's truly what matters to me.
