The STAR Treament

So...

I haven't been to a book club meeting in 3 or 4 years...

And I forgot that some of the book club sistas are some interesting characters.

Case in point... The Infamous STAR.

She always dons the most thought-provoking t-shirts.

This t-shirt says:

I do it anywhere...
I do it everywhere...
I do it all the time...

Yeah girl. Don't you walk into the wrong club with that shirt on.

Especially coupled with these HOT shoes.

Every brotha in the club would be trying to get at ya! LOL

Yes, that shirt describes her 100%. She does "it" anywhere, everywhere, all the time...

Yes indeed. She loves to READ.

Now if STAR would've had another four letter word on the back of that shirt... uh, let's just say it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

HA HA.

No. She likes to read. And that's a good thing.

I love to read too. But I am not brave enough to wear that shirt.

But STAR is! She's beyond brave!

Go girl!

Book Club Tidbits

Dedicated to one of my favorite lurkers Cashana... sorry I didn't make it to NBCC! Erica said you were looking for me! Wanted to meet you:(

A couple of weekends ago, we had our August book club meeting...

Of course, they try to shock me with the t-shirts. Star wasn't at the meeting, but her bizness partna Erica was. They have a most interesting t-shirt that's pretty popular over at It's All About Books:

"Book Lovers do it between the covers".

I like that one!

We are an all female book club, but lo and behold, we have one male member, "Cid"... In the ATL, there are male book clubs, but they are of the "ghey" persuasion. Cid said he rather hang out with us womens. He's a great addition, as he brings the male point of view to the plate.

He poses here in his "Got books?" t-shirt.

I like that one, too... He wants a "I make reading sexy t-shirt"... but it has a female on the front, sort of like Erica's shirt above.

Erica, do a shirt with a dude on it!

As I mentioned before, our book club meeting was waaaaaaaay the hell up in Roswell, a northern suburb. I don't mind this at all, and I try to be sure to participate, as we do have members that drive long distances every month to book club meetings.

As a result, one better stop for gas before they kick out on an hour drive home.

Green Eyed Bandit expressed this quite fervently.

I snapped this pic of her and one of my House of LadyLee mascots, her son the Baby Bandit.

I never see the boy smile for a photo, so I was glad to catch a pic of him not being all hardcore!

But I got a question, Green Eyed Bandit...

Uh-rah... in this particular gas station that we gassed up in, on the GOOD side of town, mind you-

Did you notice the lovely assortment of crack water pipes so loveling displayed at the cash register?

Man, I wanted to take a picture so bad... ooooh. I think they would've snatched my camera if I would have.

I never thought I would have seen something like that on the high class side of town!

Makes me want to stick to my 'hood... just a bit closer.

T-shirt Tales

So...

I got a chance to see some of my uh, more interesting book club sistas on Saturday.

Some of them like fancy t-shirts.

I myself like a plain t-shirt. I don't like people looking at me and reading what's on my shirt. I am VERY much into not drawing attention to myself...

But, I am a rare persona in that aspect. Not my book club sisters.

Here's Judy with a signature shirt.

Interesting take on the old adage "Sh** Happens".

I suppose I can wear that particular shirt. Get a good laugh out of it and all.

But my girl STAR likes to shock folk.

*crickets*
She arrived at the book club meeting a few minutes late, and headed straight for the vacant chair next to me.

Why did she do that?

*Ladylee cheesing real hard*

"Wassup Dr. Ladylee," she said. "Been awhile since I've seen you."

"What's up, Book Slut?!!!!" I replied.

Poor chick. She know not to sit next to me with a shirt like that on. I picked on her the whole time.

I don't ever recall anyone a slut out of pure joy and humor, lol...

Several of us went out to dinner at Copeland's after the book club meeting.

(I was drawn there by my finance group leader GreenEyed Bandit and her wailings about having the phat "buy one get one free" dinner coupons).

I kept calling Star a slut... the whole time.

The girl seems to like that.

She worries me.

I wonder how folks react to her in public... especially since she owns the t-shirt company that produces these shirts. She was proud to say she wore them often, and had many of them in different colors.

Let's just say, she went to a Jodi Picoult booksigning... and Jodi got up from the table and ran over to her and said "Now this is my type of shirt!"

LOL. I am sure she gets some other interesting comments... and good sales. She is a walking advertisement, she is.

I ain't mad at you, Star... with your ol' fancy t-shirt.

We suggested that she put the letter "a" between "book" and "slut".

Now THAT would be a conversation piece indeed... wouldn't it?

LOL!!!
