The Pill

It seemed like a good idea
The pill.
Everyone said I needed it,
The pill.
It would help me keep from going backwards, back there
But no one said the pill was a curse , a nightmare.
I went from being dependent on him
To being dependent on it.
At least with him there was laughter,
Hand holding
Spooning.
Now there is a
Schedule
Cold water
Chalky taste
And fear.
What happens without the pill?
Will I move multi directional experiencing life?
Will I laugh and cry,
Dance and sing while plotting your murder?
Chronic, terminal, hospice.
Give me acute, fast, sudden.
Give me colorful dreams
In a realistic world with passion
Pause
And a breeze that lifts my skirt
Displaying my bare ass as it tickles my ears
Trying desperately to blow my hair.
But please don’t give me the pill.
It makes me flat
A monotone life.
I know I have memories of vibrant times.
Of ups and downs
I see them when I close my eyes
I dream in 3D
Where I can touch those around me.

From September 8, 2010 Women of Color Writing Workshop. Writing Prompt: We were each given a pill (each of us had a different type, differing in shape and color), and wrote about it for 10 minutes.

Serenity is laid out on a beach in Charleston. She gave me an assignment to write an introduction to the 21 day Financial Fast for her and crew. I bugged her about it on twitter (while she was on the beach - not a good look, as it ruffled her feathers, lol), but I wrote some long-winded loveliness on my self, thoughts, and experiences surrounding this fast (I'm on day 18 of 21 now).

So go on over there. Support that Oldgirl. And if you're running with them, starting up on tomorrow, it'll do something to motivate ya!

(Yeah, ya'll didn't know we get down like that over in the House of LadyLee, did you? Poet Laureates and ish residing all up in here?)
Snake had a most fascinating run here in 2007 on the blog with his Infamous "Snake Bite" poetry and essays. He deserves that title.
So, slide on over to Terry's spot.
Yes, the seats are cheap.
They are free.
They are in the nosebleed section, and you need to bring a pillow to sit your ass down on so your tailbone won't hurt.
That's okay, though.
Knowledge still drops HARD like nuclear bombs just the same.
It truly does.
