Something New is Coming... Damn

So everyone is EAGERLY anticipating the new Kendrick Lamar CD, which supposedly drops on April 14.

A couple of days ago, the CD art work and cover.

*crickets*

The title is Damn. I don't know what to make of that. Kendrick looks like he just got off the bus.

The way he is looking on this CD cover...

I tell you one doggone thing...

This best not be no TRAP album. Ugh.

I don't care for trap music. After three songs I am exhausted and in need of a bible scripture.  I'm just saying.

The track listing came out also.

Odd.

People are treating the letters in the white part of the track listing like letters on the Soul Train Scamble board. That didn't even cross my mind (and the soul train scramble board was one of my favorite Soul Train segments). Folks actually came up with some phrases. I am sure he will explain all this.

I have no idea how he will top Good Kid M.a.a.d City or To Pimp a Butterfly. And I won't be disappointed if he doesn't.

I just hope it is available across all streaming platforms. I have Spotify and Tidal.

I don't have Apple, tho. I had it in the past, but I didn't listen to it much.

I would hate to have to steal somebody's I-phone to hear this CD. That would not be a good look.

With that said, I will play my favorite Kendrick performance. I will never forget it. I was knocked out sleep with the tv on, and Saturday Night Live had come on. His performance woke me slam up out of my sleep.

It had me wondering... Who this little black boy?

LadyLee Beats: "My Philosophy"

I wanted to have a LadyLee Beats Week, but decided against it.

I just have too many favorite beats. Can't decide amongst them all.

In the process of looking for various instrumentals, I came across a little youtube video that I have been watching everyday for the past week. It makes me... happy.

Dancing coffee beans... or potatoes. We don't know. The jury is still out on that.

It garnered much discussion between myself and cubicle mate the CowgirlCre.

LadyLee: "That's me right there, Cre, at 0:22 seconds!"
*lee mimicking the move, doing the robot and the wave at the same time*

CowgirlCre: "That's us at 0:31 seconds! Cubicle crew break-down!"

We have the move at 0:57 seconds down. We really practice that one, and can do it in unison.

And we called coworker Lieutennant By over, since he like old school rap music, and made him watch it.

We decided he was the coffee bean spinning hard on the floor at 1:21 minutes.

LOL... the things we do to entertain ourselves.

But "My Philosophy" is one of my favorite beats. Even with just listening to the instrumental, I know every word! One of the most intelligent raps ever,

"Let us begin... what where why and when... will all be explained like instructions to a game...See, I'm not insane, in fact I'm kind of rational..."

Favorite Beats, Part I

Look at me...

Forgetting to post today. BUT I will be posting something.

Man, we have been SLOW all summer workwise. The new fiscal year come up and now we are busy as all get out. My feet are firmly planted in the air! Goodness!

I am posting, but got what I wanted to post today, but that's cool.

I wanted to post up one of my favorite beats. Just the instrumental. I like rap instrumentals. I can't really listen to much rap unless it is really old. I listen to too much, and I will be ready to open my Book of Cuss and bust a sucker upside the head with a brick, man.

And we don't want that, do we?

So here is one of my favorites...

My brother would fall out his chair if he heard this write now. When he was 11, he would holler "Play that rap song with the violins in it, Lisa!"

LOL

And it has one of my favorite rap lines

"Find another CHICKEN to jerk!!!"

I know that's right, honey. This chicken ain't having it. I might have to print that out and place it on my cubicle cabinet.

It reminds me soooo much of my final days in grad school. Xzibit's cassette tape was on heavy rotation while I was writing my dissertation. I went into my defense ready to tare something up if I didn't pass. LOL

My how time flies. Doesn't even feel like it was that long ago...

But it's still one of my favorite beats!
