Monday Night Randoms

It's Monday!

I have decided that Mondays are now officially my BEST day of the week.

No particular reason for that... just need to do something different. This will be a GREAT day. Period.

The only thing that would make it better is if it would just...

Stop...

Raining.

Wow.

I remember the sun shining this past Thursday morning. I remember because I made sure to open the sunroof and I let down all the windows despite it being a little chilly out.

And that is the last time I remember some sunshine. That is it.

This weekend I was staring out the window at the falling rain right along with Sister Callie and Mitch.

They were interested in the birds, squirrels, and  I was wishing for some sunshine.

Politricks. So the story of the week has been Ben Carson and his uh, hard stretching of the truth.

Sir. First of all, you need to stop whining.  Don't be going HAM when you been all super soft and sensitive. Stop it, I say.

Second, you need to call Herman Cain, Michael Steele, Colin Powell, Alan Keyes, and JC Watts and have a few heartfelt conversations.

What is up with the Republican party and Black republicans? Not any Black republicans, but black republicans who look like they may attain a bit of upper level power?

Why is Ben Carson doing all this whining? History is only repeating itself. Sir, you been in the lead for a minute... They are gonna stick a telescope up your life and examine EVERYTHING.

They are doing with everybody. But it looks a bit suspect when they do it with him. I am only thinking that because of what happened with Cain last time around. They went and conjured up one of his mistresses. End of story.

They are combing through the details of Carson's book. And a lot of it is a bit... stretched.

I don't think he will be in the race for long, but I didn't expect anything as simple as the details of his books to be scrutinized.

Now I raised an eyebrow when he told the Popeyes chicken store robbery story a couple of weeks ago... I found it odd because he is a Seventh day adventist. And most of them practice vegetarianism.

So if he is made out to be a liar, well, that's not going to go down with his adoring Evangelitical base. He should be alright because his base doesn't trust the media, so if he spins it right, he will be okay. But make no mistake: all of this is initiated by the Republican party. Period. Same patterns of operation.

He still needs to have some convos with some high level black republicans. They tend to get treated like crap. Not sure what that's about, but I don't know why Carson should be any different.

Anyway, that is all I got to say about that.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out. And it looks like it is time for me to take another news break. Sigh.

My prediction: They gonna clear out all these top jokers.  Repub ticket will be Bush/Rubio.  Democratic ticket will be Hillary Clinton/Julian Castro.

Oh yeah.... Hills has had a convo with Castro. And if he is on the ticket, all the repubs gonna pass out.

Because someone with another funny name on the ticket for the white house, uh that's too much. Way too much.  But if she puts a popular hispanic person on the ticket, the White House is hers. The repubs have alienated everyone. That's on them.

Those are my political thoughts.

I had lunch Saturday with Jo Garner, one of my favorite authors. I am reading her book Banner of Love.

This is the sequel to Solomon's Blues.

I absolutely LOVED Solomon's Blues. I reviewed it a couple of years ago.

And I love love love Banner of Love. What a befitting sequel. And it has been just the best rainy day read ever.  I spent all day finishing it up.

So it was great to have lunch with her. I liked catching up and talking about writing.

I will finish up Banner of Love tonight. And I will call her and harass her about it!

Song of the Week.  Since it's raining... Oran Juice Jones "Walking in the Rain"

And then there was that awful answer song  "Thunder and Lightning".

Both songs were great back in the early 80s, when I was 13. We were stoked!

Not so much now. But I think of "Walking in the Rain" when it's all dreary outside.

That is it for me!

Have a great week.

On Purpose!

Good Monday Afternoon

Monday!

I was so happy to get to work this morning. Don't laugh. It is true. I have a lot to do on a project this week, and if I play it right, I will be finished with it within the next 2 weeks. Today is simply a prep day. Full of stuff to do, but it is all prep. And I am good. Today should go by in a flash, and it already is.

I had a quiet weekend.  That's the way I like it. I was trying my best to stay cool. That is hard to do, seeing that the temperature this weekend in the ATL was in the 90s. And it will be in the 90s all week long. Sigh. My house ain't the coolest. I need one of those big 3 ton AC systems. I was all good nevertheless.

I went to church on Saturday night,  and I went to the movies on Sunday.

Movie of the Week.  In light of the prison escape a couple of  weeks ago, I watched The Shawshank Redemption. I love that movie. But this weekend's movie goal was to see...

That was a GREAT movie. Let me rephrase that: the special effects in the movie were GREAT. The storyline was a bit cornball. But this was meant to be an action film. And action there was.

I like to pay the money to see stuff like that in IMAX 3D. No other way to see it!

I think that may have been the first IMAX movie I've seen this year. There are 2 more I want to see this summer. So I need to save up money for that! LOL

Picture of the Week.  Your girl.  Sista Callie Jo.

She got the notion to jump in the dryer. I was folding clothes straight out the dryer. I left the room for something, and when I returned, there she was, in the dryer. In this picture, she's trying to figure out how to get past me, because she knows she shouldn't be in the dryer. She darted past me and hid out for awhile. Humph.

I'm glad only a shirt was left to fold. I would've had to wash things over. I have no time for that.

Song of the Week. I have always liked the rap group Camp Lo for their throwback style. Here's a mashup of the Luchini song with the Bobby Shmurda beat.

That is some awesomeness. It is one of the better blends/mash-ups I've heard in awhile. And I like real rapping. I can understand every word.  But dude with the toothpick in his mouth... that was a bit dangerous

That's it for me.

You know, our President of these beloved United States is about to open up the box on ya'll. First Lady Michelle has already came out the box. And she don't care what you say.

They just had the Prince/Stevie Wonder concert. They are packing up and getting ready to move on out.

They've been disrespected all these years. Hmmm...

Personally, I would say whatever is on my mind... on purpose. They on the president word for saying the word nigga. Heck, he's been called it enough. He has a right to break down what he thinks about the use of it. And he was on point.

I would tell all us ALL what I thought... On purpose.

On purpose... then drop the mike.

Really though.

No apologies. DEAL WITH IT.

The country seems to be at a... fever pitch right now. I don't know what other words to use to describe it. I just hope we all be alright.

And we will.

Holla!

Have a great week :)

Happy First Monday Morning

Good Monday Morning! (Well Evening... meant to post this this morning but my computer keeps shutting down...)

I should be at work today. But I am not. I had pretty much left it open for myself whether I would take today off or not. Since I had that mindset waaaay back last year before Christmas, I decided to take it off. And I will spend the day just prepping for the week. I have to admit, I should have used the weekend to get my mentality ready for the week. AND if I hadn't slept late, I may have gone in. But since this was an iffy either/or day for me, I just chose to take off.

It's actually a beautiful day in my beloved ATL.  It has been raining cats and dogs for the past few days, and it is nice to see some actual sunshine. But it is COLD. It is 40 degrees right now, and it will get even colder later on in the week. This makes me want to go buy a coat. I haven't had a good one in years. I have a couple of heavy jackets, and when it is cold like this, I can't say I even hang around outside for long. It is moreso me moving from my car to job, from my job to car, from car to whatever place I need to go in. Now, if I was taking the trains or the bus everywhere, then that's a different story. I need coats, long johns, ear muffs, everything...

I received 5 pairs of gloves for Christmas, though.  So at least my hands won't be cold.

Anyway, I don't have much of anything to say. I am STILL thinking about my goals for the New Year. I don't like making resolutions. It seems as if tagging something as a "resolution" dooms it to automatic failure. And like I always say, I don't need a resolution. I need a revelation.  Things don't truly change for me until I have a revelation. They may appear to change, but they don't truly change. Not long term or forever.

I need that "Forever change".

And that is something I will think about.  I am still doing a lot of morning writing, as I spoke about in this post (thanks Shai for the book reference. I looked at my book shelves and I didn't immediately see the book so OH WELL, lol). It is interesting what one learns about one's self when one looks under the rugs of the heart.

Anyway, that's about it to me.

By the way, Happy Birthday to one of my favorite bloggers, one who has taught me much about the blogging game, Serenity_23. She has closed her old blog and has started another, Living My Faith, one that is more geared towards faith and other spiritual matters, which is right up my alley. I thoroughly enjoyed her series on prayer, and on gratitude, which took my thoughts on the subject matters to a whole nother level.I truly appreciate you. Thank you gal, for the past 9 years of friendship. We've had our ups and downs, our ins and outs, but through it all, I am so thankful for a friend like you, one who loves me even when I am at my worst. Thanks for all the advice, and chastisements too when needed.

Such friends are few and far between. Thanks for your friendship. You have truly been a blessing to me.

That's it for me! Have a good week.  And a good YEAR on purpose!
