Celie... in Paperback

So "Celie" is in town...

Silver Sparrow is now out in paperback, and she's on a whirlwind tour.

She text me and has somehow coaxed me into coming to the ATL History Center tonight to see her give a talk with Pearl Cleage.

I don't think she would take No for an answer.

I didn't even bother to say, "No man, I will catch you next time. I just want to go home after work. I'm tired, man! NO!"

She yabbered on. Even has me down as her guest for a free ticket under "my appropriate title".

Don't know what that means. I don't use "Dr." title unless I'm trying to pull rank and scare people somewhere for trying to mess me over.

So I will just go. I always learn something new. If I learn one new thing to help my writing, then I'm good.

And it's always good to see my friend.

It truly is.

  1. YAY! Glad you are going!

  2. Wow! Tayari & Pearl Cleage, I wish I was still in Atlanta. Both of my favorite Atlanta writers. Enjoy.

  3. @Play Mama A... Yes. Even going home to change and get myself somewhat together. It should be pretty interesting. And a chance for me to stop brooding. Go figure.

@Remnants... They did a "Conversation" appearance together back in 2006, I believe. It was VERY good. So definitely worth going. Wish you were here too!

  4. I am so jealous. I love both those ladies.

  5. Dear Dr. Lee-- I was just over here catching up on your excellent blog and I saw this. I had to smile. You right. I wasn't taking no for an answer, although I am sorry we didn't get time to talk.

You are blogging less frequently, but the posts are all very meaningful. Thanks for sharing. It helped me to read them.

Slap the *crickets* out the way, kindly step up to the mike, and SAY something!!
